any species that I collect (identifiable or not) gets it's cap broken into wedges and distributed in my yard. I have a rather large number of species thriving in my yard as a result.

that is viable to happen. all mushroom i find that i do not consume are thrown out of my window into my backyard. there are quite a few mushrooms growing in my yard.

Well that method does not seem ot work for anyone inthe PNW. I have also dumped a whole winters muclch of P. stuntzii shavings and spores and mulch and nothing ever gre from that.

I've established morels in an orchard in the PNW using water used to wash my finds with bits and pieces of morel in it... :smile:

I don't see why it wouldn't work for other species.  It's bound to have a low success rate, so one attempt (or one person's attempts) failing doesn't really discredit the theory...

I thought there was some good advice in there Adrian.  Another thing one can do to spread the spores is dry the mushies gills down on paper so prints are collected, then scrape all the spores off at the end of the season and distribute them in favorable habitats via air or water.  I had a large pile of spores from my finds over the fall :blush: .  There's always stamets' idea of sporeprints on a hat too.  It's always good to help the shrooms by spreading their spores around in return for picking them I think, a symbiosis if you will :grin: .

These are some comments about the layout of the guide, not the actual content. First, I'd change the font color to something dark, or even black. White font is hard to read. Make the background picture a bit lighter. Then, left justify the text. It sucks to have to jump to a gazillion areas on the screen to read the next lines. You can still have the left-justified text in the center of the screen by setting up width parameters on a table or something similar.

i didnt even notice the centralized text and it wasnt hard to read for me, but you know....
