I was over at my girlfriends house yesterday, and i saw a show on the austin public access chanell, It was an old sci/fi movie redon with psychedelic imagry. Terrance Mckenna(sic?) was ranting in the background. This was the first time i'v ever heard this guy outside of sidetrance songs. He sounds like one insane dude. I found it facinating though, some of his philosophys and theorys. Anybody else see this? I would like to know wher to find a copy of it.

Yes its called Spacetime Continuum - Alien Dreamtime. It has Spacetime for the music, Steven Kent on digeridoo, and Terence Mckenna ranting. I myself enjoy this, never thought they would play it on T.V.
Also a few corrections..
sidetrance=psytrance
Terrance=Terence

that's so funny, i was just reading about mckenna and made a post to ripple's born to late thread before i saw your's here:
garcia in 1993 ~ "... the date that holds significance for me is 2012. that's mckenna's alpha moment, which is where the universe undergoes its most extraordinary transformations. he talks about these cycles, exponential cycles in which, in each epic, more happens than in all previous time. like, he talks about novelty, the insertion of novelty into the time track. his first example of novelty is, say, the appearance of life. so the universe goes along, brrrrmmmmm, then all of a sudden, life appears: bing! so that's something new.
the next novelty might be language, that sort of thing. they're transformations of a huge kind, gains in consciousness. so he's got us, like, in the last forty-year cycle now - it's running down, we're definitely tightening up - and during this period, more will happen than has happened in all previous time. this is going to peak in 2012... it's an incredibly wonderful and totally transformational view of the universe. i love it, personally. it's my favorite ontology, my favorite endgame..."

I have the video, it's pretty great... You can just feel all the energy at the raves they were taken from.

T. McKenna's voice is very soothing and strange. Sometimes I like to listen to his lectures in the background just to relax. His ideas flow so smoothly, but so randomly at the same time. Somebody will ask him something along the lines of "have you ever been to Oregon?" and he will go on for fifteen minutes about transdimensional elves that speak objects into existence, never answering the question.
Is this video available in a compressed format? I'd like to check it out.

The first time I heard McKenna's speaking voice I almost laughed, he sounded similar to Truman Capote. After 5 minutes I found his speech incredibly fluid, nearly mesmerizing. I liked how he could coherently riff on any subject, he was one of the best public speakers I've ever heard. Alien Dreamtime is fine, my favorite videos are Forms And Mysteries and Psychedelic Society, both are bootleg vhs tapes I got off of Ebay, just him and an audience, no special effects and no music.
