Hi guys,
It has been three weeks after inoculation and now this is how my pf tek drinking glasses look like. They are colonized, but one has a tiny hole in substrate which is not colonized. What should I do? Maybe birth it and don't wait for it to colonize? Except that hole, it is fully colonized.

Wait until they're 100% colonized. Then give them at least 1 week to consolidate. Then birth, dunk for 24 hours, roll in verm & toss in your SGFC.

Thanks,
they all are 100% colonized (except that one with hole and one which was inoculated later). For consolidation I should put then in a room with indirect light for a week? Anyway, one off topic question. For dunk, how to keep temperature below 40 for 24h? Put some ice in it?

They should be exposed to indirect 12/12 lighting through the whole process. So, if they're not being exposed to light now, yes get them on the schedule. Keep the schedule the same for fruiting, too. No need to keep the temps low during dunking. PS.C. does not require a cold shock.

If you buy the spore syringes online then how many CC's do you need per jar? or for 12 * 1/2 pint jars?

1cc per jar, 1/4cc per inoculation point.

All you need to do it inject a fully colonized grain jar with some water and swirl it around and suck it back up.
I was watching the BRF/PF Tek videos and on part 2 it says if you use "Liquid Culture" then they will colonize faster than if you use spores...
is your response to that post what liquid culture is? injecting water into a fully colonized jar, swirl it around and suck it back into the syringe, and you're left with liquid culture?....
if so, i only have 10cc's for my first attempt so (hoping) everything goes to plan and i get 10 jars fully colonised, could i sterilise one of the spare jars i would have. inject water into the 10 fully colonized jars, suck it back up and squirt it into the spare sterilised jar so that i end up with alot more liquid culture? or wouldn't you recommend it?
if you can, how long does this liquid culture survive for?

so ive been reading this thread religiously and i couldnt help but notice that the lets grow mushroom videos say nothing about misting and fanning 5-6 times a day, and only tell you to mist in the first 24 hours. will the soaked perlite be enough to humidify my terrarium for the remainder of the fruiting period? this also brings me to my second question: the video says the soaked perlite will remain moist for "well over a month without adding water." once this is dried out is it necessary to use fresh perlite, or just resoak? thanks a bunch.

My SGFC stays between 88-95% RH w/out misting.
Just re-soak the perlite for using it again. No need to toss it out.

Dunk and rolling tonight! Excited as this is my first time. So after you pick the mushrooms off the cakes, you can dunk it again for 24 hours, put it back in the terrarium, and more shrooms will grow? Did I understand that correctly? If so, how many times can you do this?

Twice. The dunk replenishes the cakes with water so that they can carry out/on another flush. When conditions are correct and you're working with good genetics, 90% of the fruit bodies that are going to come from the substrate/cake come with in the first 2 flushes.

P. Cubensis. is the best "strain" to use for beginners. Anything labeled "PF," "Z-strain," etc are varieties of PS.C.

Is there any benefit or harm if the lighting for the FC is 18on/6off?

Thanks so much for this thread Shea25! I have perfected Cannabis cultivation, and now it's on to the next natural substance I can cultivate for myself! I'm gathering all my supplies now, and getting ready to pull the trigger on the spore ordering. I am planning on getting the B+, and a couple other varieties when I purchase. I'm interested in the PE, but never ate any to know if it's way too strong or not, for me. I would also like to select varieties that can be cultivated together in the same FC due to liking similar environments. Though it seems that most mushrooms enjoy the same conditions outlined in this tek. Though I'm no expert, yet, I'm reading as much as possible so I can just get my gear and go to work! I want to do it right the first time so I'm still hunting a well priced PC down. Maybe a thrift shop might have one? Do PCs wear down after awhile and need replacement for any reason? IE if I found a nice used one there isn't a chance, unless broken, that it can't perform? I just need to iron out that aspect and buy either a PC, or just go with a pot/steam. Anyone here use a regular pot, and hate it? End up just getting a PC anyway? My one concern is that I won't be doing perpetual harvests or anything so is a PC over kill if I just stick to the PF Tek for the first few runs? In the back of my mind I know that I won't be happy if I don't use a PC lol. I am excited to get this started though! Anyone smoke their mushrooms? I recall years back rolling shroom dust/shake from the bottom of the bag into big spliffs of Cannabis. Not sure if it was really working since we ate them too. No control subject in that experiment, what was it prom?! lol Thanks again guys/gals for all the info and this site!
Cheers, Morc
