Then why are you communicating this post using language? Please choose an alternate non-hindering method.
I believe what he meant was - ALTHOUGH IT IS NECESSARY, Language is a major setback and very unadvanced as far as getting concepts from one mind to another. WOrds are just bridges to experience or understanding.

Presently, there IS no alternative, and I didn't say there was. I'm just saying, WHAT IF there was no language, ever. Wouldn't it be entirely possible to believe that we might find some other means of communication? (yes, something more advanced than pointing and grunting) Perhaps even something that a language couldn't ever achieve?
And the wheel is another one that no one has mentioned.

evolution of language....

the internet wouldn't be possible without transistors ;P or evolving language for that matter :-P
space travel too.. I think I heard somebody say that.
Someone had mentioned working together, "cooperation and collaboration."
Although I agree that this is certainly something we've gotten very good at, it isn't really a human achievement in my opinion - ants and other life-forms work in groups as well.. I think we kind of jacked their ideas ;P same with basic language in fact

in the long run, it's hopefully going to be something in the future.
some kind of concression omega point at the end of time.
but from what we've thought up so far... none of our religions or philosophies are looking like they have much staying power... so....
I'd say it's space ships. millenia down the line, we'll be gald for those early NASA investments as the russians choke to death on their own excrement back on earth!
