hello all.....new guy in da HOUZZZZZ! lol. ok, now that i have that out of my system, i was wondering if there are any people in the tampa area that have had any luck? I'm new to this and      i know when to go. just want to know if others have had luck yet. Also, a direct link to someplace that tells me the conditions that are premium for cube's would be great.

aye, someone is bound to say that inevitably ^^^^. but please do. it well help you a lot.

i am from palm harbor, north pinellas. ive had luck in east hillsborough and manatee county. i recommend manatee. lots of good fields in a lot of places. pasco is also good. there is not much more i can tell you except go out and find a safe, nice field with a few month old poo and some higher grass and trees. your bound to find p. cubensis and c. cyanescens.

yeah I have horses and used the horse manure to fertilize the lawn and they just started popping up they arent usually that big(about the size of a half dollar) and only about 4-8 a week. At this moment I have a cluster of about 8 growing because it poured this mourning. Id take a picture from my kitchen window to prove it if I have a camera.

well i have tried to....DID go thru the faq,but to no avail, i have found no really specific info on good conditions after about 5 times of going over it. I did'nt ask directly, so i don't think its that bad. lol. Any how, a more specific  HINT  as to where i can find that info would be great.

there is no real info, just in cow pastures in florida in shady areas and high grass in at least 1-2 month old cow pies. good luck.

and P. subbalteatus in horse manure/hay.

anywhere from 12 hours-3 maybe 4 days after the rain. i have found small P. cubensis and some Cop. cyanescens growing about 12 hours after rain. i assumed them to grow after that rain, although some of the larger patches probably grew from earlier rains.

I think i just found Cop. cyanescens but i accidently dropped it and crushed the cap..... it pissed me off. I found it growing in a neigbors yard.... i would have been 100% sure but i couldnt figure out how to bruise them... can someone tell me the best way to bruise a mushrooms and or how to tell if it is a bruise? but it is lost now anyway... maybe another will grow tomorrow in his yard...

Hello erjone and welcome to the Shroomery!

The best time to find cubes is 24 hours after rain and/or good humidity.

The best time to harvest is in the early morning hours, but any time of day will do.

My homepage has a link to a great hunting guide.

Keep shroomin,
GGreatOne234

why yes! your home page is EXACTly what i was looking for. danka, gracias, and thankyou! As for the cyanescens, whats the difference? By that i mean, sticking to what i know (cubes) would not be denying myself of anyrhing, would it?

also, Magma....Manatee.....thats more or less when you go over the sunshine skyway, right? (new to the area)

yes my man it is over the sunshine skyway from pinellas, are you in pinellas?

you did not find a Copelandia cyanescens in your neighbors yard unless he has cow shit in his yard.

I used to live in Tampa, it rains every single day this time of year, so that question is irrelivant. Anyways.. when I lived there I had luck out near Zypherhills in the farms around there.

Basically just look for a farm with cows, or cows in a field in general. Anywhere in FL in a field with cows is a good bet. Just look for dung that looks old. Try and find a farm with no fence also, that way you can just walk on the land and say you're a student at USF studying mycology and was looking for specimens to study for class.. I got caught by a farmer one time and that's what I used, he was cool after I brought up the line "I am studying for school". If there's a fence you should always ask for permission. Usually most people are cool, just use that school line, it worked for me, I don't see why it wouldn't for you. Also try and come up with ways to collaborate your lies if he asks more questions, some people like to talk, like find a degree and a thing you're going to do with a degree in mycology.. etc.

Oh, and the best time to pick is the morning, the earlier the better, before it starts getting real hot.

I believe once you cross the skyway from St. Pete it takes you back into Hillsbourough County, if i'm not mistaken. You link back up with I-75 from 275 and travel south, then a few miles down the road you go into Manatee County. Wow, this is really stretching the memory banks here, I moved out of FL in June 2000 and I still remember this shit, not bad for a stoner.

Pan (copelandia) Cyans grow in dung also, so whoever said they found them, if they weren't in dung then they were most likely Pan Subbs or another Pan species. I've never heard of Pan Cyans growing anywhere else than dung.

If you find Cyans, be ready for a ride, they're potent little fuckers, a better high than cubes as well.

no, the sunshine skyway takes you into manatee county.  at the end of the skyway there is a big sign that says "ENTERING MANATEE COUNTY"
