MYCOTOPIA
    #16222060 - 05/12/12 10:24 PM (11 years, 11 months ago)

Has anyone here tried getting on to Mycotopia, I registered on their site and belive them to be fake. I say this because i am unable to even introduce myself on that site. They do sell items and spores right off their site for 10.00, however when one tries to hit the contact link on the stores page you get a blank page, though im sure they would take your money. Id like any comments on MYCOTOPIA. Are they legit? or is it a scam? I have read articles from the site which slams the Shroomery pretty hard and im not trying to Slam them in return please honest feedback only

There was friction back in the day between Shroomery and Mycotopia. Something about Hippie3 trying to make a profit off of the community, I don't know the story. Hippie3 died awhile back though, and it seems like any real tension is a thing of the past. Its a legit site, that I visit every now and again, but it seems like they're consistently behind the cultivation technology curve.

so every one seems to say it is at the very least legit, and thanks wildernessjunkie for the history. I am still befuddled as to why i can not post nor contact them. Thanks for the feedback

Sponsors were not an issue, It did not appear that they had one, the store looked like it was from MYCOTOPIA which gives credence to wildernessjunkie's post

I dont remember. You'll have to dig for it. I'm sure anyone that frequents  Mycotopia could probably tell you though. I think its his wife running the show over there now.

The associated spore company is called Mycrotopia I think. I like it on that forum, a lot of members seem to be in the 30-50 range or so. I believe the reason why it's currently difficult to make an account there and start posting is that a group of former mods who started their own site have apparently making new accounts there to spam their site.

Actually, the opposite is true. I was one of the mods who got banned.

What happened was that they had HUGE security holes in their software. We had been telling her about it for a long time and she wouldn't fix it. One of the mods broke in, DIDN'T DO ANYTHING MALICIOUS, then told Mrs.Hippie what he had done and how. She flipped out and banned everyone.

The site is legit in that they won't scam you though.

The way I see it is this: Topia has lots and lots of good info. And very little bad info. It's easy to find what you want and the board is well-moderated.

Here, however, there is even more good info. It's just buried under a whole fuckload of misinformation or outdated info. You have to watch who you take advice from here more than you do there. But that's a simple matter of how many members are here compared to how many are there. You can only have so many mods.

Interesting, I had never heard the other side of that story. I've been a member there for a much shorter time than I have here, but your last two paragraphs are in line with my impressions of both sites. A large forum and a small forum both have their advantages and disadvantages.

You really won't, because we're not going around trying to ruin peoples' names. We're just trying to do our own thing.

Fair enough. I don't really follow this stuff all that closely over there, I mostly just go to the Botanicals section. It's unfortunate to hear that new members are having a hard time joining up over there though anyway, there was another thread like this here not long ago.

I wanted to get some feed back from mycotopia for this very reason, it seems that on this site if you do not conform to RR'S TEKS then you are out-casted. plus all they seem to have on the advanced forum is home made flow hoods and such, here on the shroomery, I have found a wealth of knowledge but at he same time i have to deal with many folks who belive that there can be no more improvements and nothing new to this feild, when you even mention teks that they have used in asia for 100's of years you get ridiculed. hell Ive had someone on here knock me for using karo instead of lme. wish there was some way of keeping the children at bay here.

just tell them like it is, it's your project and you're doing it as you see
fit but you're posting it as both a log and information for others and while
it's open for discussion you're not willing to change everything mid stream
just to fuck shit up and have them try saying 'I told ya so' even though it's
their advice that caused the fuck up because you tried changing shit instead
of following through with your plan
