I was born too late!

I have learnt that I can't live in, or yearn for the past! Yes I always wished in my heart that I lived in the Height and knew those wonderful soles!
Ginsberg, Cassady, Leary, Kesey, Babbs, Garcia, Hunter, Kerouac, McClure, Laird Grant, Graham, Barlow and so many other that don't come to my burnt out memory.
But I was born in 1958 so I have to deal with the fact that all I can do is take in as much as I can from those most astounding people and apply it to my life.
They set the example, the standard, the bar, for living life, for the love of the experience, for everything we respect about these, out heroes!
Let us here in this day, try to understand as much as possible of their ways and their love for life.
They truly burned bright, and they paid the price!
Much love and respect,
Ripple

Well said! I think I would have liked to have been around for the '40s and '50s -- Charlie Parker, Billie Holiday, Jack Kerouac, Jackson Pollock, Lenny Bruce, et al... Edit: The '20s would have been really cool too -- especially in Paris, after the war! Hemingway, Picasso, Stein, Duchamp, Miller, et al...

I would have loved to have been an adult in 1967 AS LONG AS I wasn't a minority or in Vietnam.

Ken Kesey and myself share the same birthday, but I was born a day before Jimi Hendrix was found dead. It would of been nice to be born 20 years earlier, but I find comfort in the world I have created for myself. Idle bus Sitting in decay Your motor revs In my heart everyday.

I have to wonder who the heralded visionaries of today will be 30-50 years down the road.... it seems this world is so media/image nuts that it may well be famous directors/actors (think about it, digitization may well erase the human element on screen). Keith Stroup? Noam Chomsky? Ghandi? Who knows...

I hear they're gonna use a computer construct of Ghandi for a light beer ad this summer. They want to emphasize the pacifivity and lean look of light beer drinkers...

lol... tastes great and less filling
of course there's always terence mckenna's "apex of novelty" in the year 2012. something not to miss.
garcia in 1993 ~ "... the date that holds significance for me is 2012. that's mckenna's alpha moment, which is where the universe undergoes its most extraordinary transformations. he talks about these cycles, exponential cycles in which, in each epic, more happens than in all previous time. like, he talks about novelty, the insertion of novelty into the time track. his first example of novelty is, say, the appearance of life. so the universe goes along, brrrrmmmmm, then all of a sudden, life appears: bing! so that's something new.
the next novelty might be language, that sort of thing. they're transformations of a huge kind, gains in consciousness. so he's got us, like, in the last forty-year cycle now - it's running down, we're definitely tightening up - and during this period, more will happen than has happened in all previous time. this is going to peak in 2012... it's an incredibly wonderful and totally transformational view of the universe. i love it, personally. it's my favorite ontology, my favorite endgame..."

Not all of us get to be born right in time for the revolution
I think I'm too early
But we can always wait, cause you know it's coming
