Help with casing please
    #1621162 - 06/09/03 05:22 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

I've had a casing in my tarrarium for a couple of weeks or so and there are white stem looking mycelium poking straight up about a 1/4" through the casing and they look like they are mycelium that has gone straight up and split into 2 or 3 strands will these pin or what?

Should still pin, that sounds like airial mycelium to me,though hard to say with out a picture. This happens in high humiderty sometimes.
If it looks like little fan type structures your still good to go imo

I think I've seen them described as strands poking through, what's arial mycelium, will she still pin and "Fan" structures what's that? Is Hi humidity a bad thing my guage says 90% but it's pretty wet up in there. Would cold shock help it?

I actually have some cakes that are at about 97% RH most of the day (2 inches of perlite 1/2 " water). I got some aerial mycelium formation on a WBS cake that i am trying to fruit (i know your not supposed to fruit them). It fills in after a while, and becomes a sort of mycelial patch. I think your casing shoud still be good to go, just wait. It takes 2 weeks sometimes.
