panaeolus foenisecii? in Iowa?

These were observed growing in a maintained grassy city property. The gills are beige (in the smallest) to brownish (larger ones), they also seem to be adnate to ucinate and mottled.

the ones with the light gills could be an agrocybe, the brown one could be a foeniseccii.

I think they are both Agrocybe, something like A. pediades.

Those look a bit more like Panaeolina foenisecii. Of course gill shots and a spore print would help confirm.

Probably a bunch of the same, no one will be able to tell you for certain without a gill picture. Why are you look for foenisecii?

Does what grow in Iowa? P. foenisecii? I'd say you probably found some. They are not active. Look for Panaeolus cinctulus.

Wuts this about?
" YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE TO KNOW...
This Panaeolus is common in the grass and looks fairly boring, butβin this caseβlooks deceive....
In some parts of the U.S., P. foenisecii contains psilocybin, the same pyschoactive agent found in magic mushrooms. There is some evidence that P. foenisecii may be hallucinogenic.
A number of cases have been reported involving children eating P. foenisecii and apparently having hallucinations. Mushroom poisoning expert Marilyn Shaw reports one case in which a man was mowing his lawn in Denver and found his child with "mushrooms around her mouth." Her mother said the little girl was later "banging her head" and holding her head and was frightened of both her parents. The kid was not acting as if she had a stomach ache. At the hospital in the middle of the night, Marilyn identified the mushrooms as P. foenisecii, and the doctor administered a tranquilizer. In another case, a child at a summer camp ate about 30 mushrooms, and the counselor believed she was later hallucinating.
As far as adults go, weβve had friends whoβve eaten between 5 and 25 specimens of this mushroom, theyβve either felt nothing or, as one friend told us, the psychoactive effect βmade his day.β
If your pet starts acting like it's tripping, you might think about P. foenisecii. One dog owner told Marilyn Shaw that his dog seemed to be hallucinating, as it was frightened and cowering under the furniture for three days. And, sure enough, P. foenisecii grew profusely in the yard. Marilyn told the man that, for human beings, the treatment would be reassurance and a tranquilizer, if necessary. This worked for, and Marilyn became a hero of the Capitol Hill Animal Clinic. http://urbanmushrooms.com/index.php?id=42 "
"Panaeolina foenisecii, commonly called the mower's mushroom, haymaker or brown hay mushroom, is a very common and widely distributed little brown mushroom often found on lawns. It fruits in warm weather and contains small amounts ofthe hallucinogen psilocybin.[2][3] In 1963 Tyler and Smith found that this mushroom contains serotonin, 5-htp and 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid.[4] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panaeolina_foenisecii"

I recently Id'd some foenisecii,
print was purplish brown, and the stems were darker at the base than the cap.
I don't believe yours are foenisecii.

That information seems to be erroneous. Panaeolus cinctulus is a close look-alike and may have caused this confusion. Sometimes they grow together on well fertilized lawns.

Those are misidentifications, they actually ate Panaeolus cinctulus or another active Panaeolus species like P. olivaceus which are easy to confuse.
You can eat the Panaeolina if you want since they are not poisonous, but they won't give you anything more then bad taste, indigestion, and possibly placebo.

Those aren't Panaeolina or Panaeolus, maybe Deconica? What were they growing from?
