How long is forever? Mine have been in the fruiting chamber (after being cold shocked and dunked) for going on 2 weeks with only 1 cake (out of 10) showing pins.

Where to start? It all depends on how long it's been since you birthed the cakes, and whether or not conditions in your terrarium are optimum or not, and what strain your using. As a rule, it's best not to fiddle with cakes. Anything up to two weeks between birthing and pinning is within the realms of normal, depending on what tek you use.

my appoligies for the lack of info. Equador, forever has been about a week. Im impatient!!!!!!!!!!. But when i birthed on my previous grows(double ended cased no dunk or cold shock) it took about 5 days. but i must admit i didn't get that much of a first flush. thats why i tried a cold shocking and dunking before birth.wil it bring a bigger first flush when you do this before you birth?ohh and temp is 68-75, humidity 85%, air exchange 4 times daily. thanks for the quick reply

Eveything sounds fine. Cold shocking should trigger a large flush. Equador shouldn't take too long, but it's possible the cakes were birthed before the internal mycelium network was fully developed. I wouldn't start to worry unless there's no pinning after two, perhaps two and a half weeks. Are the cakes being exposed to light? Light is another trigger stimuli, four hours of indirect sunlight a day is fine. Or mayby you knew that. Hell, I dunno, I know it's a pisser but I'd just wait a bit.

thanks i think you may be right about it not being fully developed inside. There getting light 24/7 until they show me a pin.THEY WILL NOT SLEEP!!!!!!!. since cubensis is photosynthesis activated the light should trigger the growth. I think i need to smoke one and chill out.

I threw two of my cakes out because I was tired of waiting for them to pin (after about 1 1/2 weeks). I hate waiting that much.

I did have other pinning cakes to replace them though.

How do you guys cold shock your cakes? Most people put them in the fridge, which isn't too smart as although the drop in heat helps to initiate fruiting, the drop in humidity and light levels prevent fruiting. What I like to do is freeze those blue blocks you get to cool down coolers, coolboxes and coolbags and bung them into the terrarium, close to but not touching the cakes. The temperature drops but humidity and light levels stay high, raising the chances of getting an immediate and massive flush.

I used frozen 20 oz soda bottles in my terrarium. It worked great.

Cool. I just get the impression most people use thier fridges, which seems a little silly.
