drying shrooms

So I have some shrooms I've had sitting and drying for about 5 days in a warm room. What I was wondering is most are cracker dry but a few of the bigger ones, the stems are still a little bendable. Is there anything I can do to finish them off besides a food dehydrator or building a air tight chamber and putting dry right in it?

Spit the big stems I half to increase surface area. Use a fan aswell.

place your oven on its lowest setting lay out on a cookie sheet and leave em in there for about an hour.
I do this to all mine prior to storage with epsom desiccants.
doesn't affect potency for me at all over 2 day fan dry and 2-3 day desiccant cure.
E: thought I should add that I fan dry for 2 days prior to quick bake and storage. straight to an oven may work but I have never tried it seems like a bad idea.

Put them on a paper towel and let a fan blow on them for 24 hours.

Just buy a dehydrator at a thrift shop for five bucks. Sheesh.

I'm currently using a portable heater (middle setting) faced at a bookshelf and the fruits are on the bottom of the shelf. Takes 24 hrs to dry

I'll be all over that in a few weeks. But for now, I have to do it up ghetto style and finish 'em in the oven

One very simple method I have found is simply put them on a sheet of tinfoil and put a 23 watt cfl lamp(Or two if you want it faster) light on it. I have the mushrooms also in an open plastic container so that also might be a factor. Anyways in 2 days +/- they will dry out very evenly and make the mushrooms look very pretty afterwards too. Found this method on accident. Try it

I might just do that. I really didn't want to put 'em in the oven. Thanks BlackdOve

That's one thing I've noticed with using a portable heater, they shrivel up like an old johnson.

No problem man! I was using a de hydrator myself but after accidently finding this method I like it so much better. Instead of having to wait on the de hydrator you can just smile and watch them dry out more naturally, they keep their shape for the most part too. De hydrator really shrivled them up.

Thrift stores and garage sales. Typical dehydrator gets used about three times then put in a box. You might have missed spring cleaning season, but there's still dehydrators out there.
Fan dry them first if there's a lot of them or if they are extra juicy. Four hours of fan, 8-12 hours in the dehydrator, then finish them with damprid overnight. Cracker dry to perfection in 24 hours.
