How many jars needed for 20lbs WBS

So I just got done soaking 20lbs WBS with some gypsum for 18 hours... then lightly simmered and have it all drained and in pot and pans... I wont put it in the jars till tonight. How many jars do you think I will need. Will 16 work or will i need another dozen?

I didn't even get through half of my 40lb bag, and it was 18 jars at 3/4 full. So I would say another dozen for sure. Though you might only use half of those to use the 20lbs.

I'm currently keeping track of how many quarts a 20 lbs. bag of WBS will produce. Obviously this "experiment" is only for my type of WBS, but here's where I'm at:
22 level cups from bag = 16 quarts of grain spawn when hydrated. Jars were filled 2/3-3/4 full. I just took another 12 cups from the bag, which should be another 9 quarts. I've got about 1/4-1/5 of the bag left, atm.

Will it hurt to leave the WBS on the pans/bowls for about 6-9 hours? Or should it be fine as long as I PC them later tonight?

I've left mine in the strainer for 5+ hours w/ out a problem. Also, I've loaded jars, but PCed the next day w/ out a problem. While it's not highly recommended to do, sometimes life gets in the way of our obsession.

I seen in your "TL'S simple WBS tek" that you use the self healing jar lid method. I used that method this morning and am wondering how long I half to let the silicone on the lids dry before I can PC them. Also how do you keep the lids from actually sealing to the jar when PC'ing?

The heat from the PC will cure the silicone. I like to wait the recommended 24 hours, but you can use them immediately.
The GE hole won't allow a vacuum to form, but you want the lids to seal to the jar so no air gets in other through the filter.

I just filled them 16 of them 3/4+ full... I hope I didnt over fill them as I plan on using some for a new strain and others for a G2G transfer... this will be my first G2G and second WBS grain jar syringe experiment.

Also I plan on using the 8 colonized jars today... 6 or 7 for a monotub and 1 or 2 for a g2g transfer... so that will give me a few extra jars to fill up... I still have prob 5lbs apx left over of grain

it would actually be easy to figure
1 pound = 453.59237 grams 20 pounds = 9071.8474 grams
fill a jar to the level you use weigh the seed dry and divide 9071.8474 by the resulting number and that should be your answer.

Except that hydrated grains weigh more than the ones strait outta the bag. Also, they take up more space.

true, but after you have done a few runs you tend to find a level you like and have a good idea of how they should expand.
weighing dry is just to get a good idea of how many jars per pound you can get from a bag.
would vary from person to person depending on seed mix and preference of how full they like there jars.

I feel ya, just sayin'.
In my WBS tek, I've found that it's around 1.25 cups dry grains = 1 quart of grain hydrated. But that's for my mix of WBS
I'm just keeping track of the cups to quarts w/ this bag to get a more exact number, overall.
