Threw spent cakes in trash bag...
    #16203978 - 05/09/12 09:28 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

...and a week later this is what I find...

Sorry, crappy pic. But, this makes me curious and think of making up a few cakes and doing them like this. Literally all I did was line a cardboard box with trash bag, break up cakes, spray some water, and lightly close bag up. This was the biggest fruit from whole grow so I'm curious what new cakes would do. Anyone have any insight on this?

You can crumble & spawn cakes to bulk substrate, no problem.

I'm throwing all my spent substrate into an aquarium, with some hpoo and straw, on my balcony that gets no direct sunlight.
Since I live in the treasure coast area of Florida I will undoubtedly be able to harvest some post grow play around mushrooms.

I would look into doing something like that with your spent substrates, rather than waste your fresh ones on a less-than-optimum trash bag grow.

If that was your biggest fruit, what are your growth parameters in your FC? What kind of consolidation times did you allow for before introduction of your colonized cakes to fruiting conditions?

Yup, it's a ghetto monotub, lol. Often times the 2nd flush produces the larger mushrooms, from what I have read.

This isn't my first rodeo so I know a little bit of what I'm doing. Temp was between 68 and 74. RH was between 95 and 100%, shot-gun chamber. Cakes were fully colonized when placed. Don't get me wrong, I got good sized fruits(medium-medium/large), just nothing this big.

yea, second flushes & subsequent flushes always produce the monsters, but not as much overall weight as the first.

Here's a pic of second flush of a monotub.

My first tubs 1st flush was 3.5oz. dry. 2nd was 4.5oz. dry (huge fruits) and third flush was actually 3.5oz. dried last night  I hope your third flush in the garbage bag is just as good!

You should be getting 80-90% of your fruits from the first flush.
