san pedro in peru.
    #1620128 - 06/09/03 08:29 AM (13 years, 9 months ago)

Shirley just returned from a backpacking trip to Peru   with my friend Monkey, and when in Cuzco we came upon a very trippy art gallery

one thing led to another, and back at this guy's place (also a hostel) they had loads of cacti growing in the garden in respectful fashion, and a big bottle in the fridge of ready-to-go green juice. a mixture of 7-point and 11-point cactus, boiled for 18 hours, mushed and pulped, strained. sort of gloopy, like runny swarfega, Monkey said.

Monkey and i returned to london, and monkey brought 500ml home in an alcohol bottle with a pic on the label that looked pretty similar. apparently, his bags went straight through, but had he been questioned, a few shots of alcohol in there gave it a 'local spirit' smell. not that i am recommending you do anything you may think is questionable to some authorities - luckily Monkey lives with flat eric in another dimension. anyway, it's in Monkey's fridge now over at his place, and apparently contains at least 2-3 good draughts.

i kept a hostel flyer with their details (website included) for my journal, in case i ever return: and they accept email, if you want to ask about room rates or whatever. i mentioned this site to the guy i was rapping with, if you're interested, pm me for an address. and if you do contact them, say shirley says hi.

monkey wanted to show off his green cactus juice, and asked me to post a few pics:

Monkey and eric plan to find a suitable time to taste it, and shirl will certainly report back on any events, places or times witnessed

Man, that is one lucky monkey! I've always wanted to hook up some kind of machine that would make Flat Eric bob his head to music, and then put him in my passenger seat window so people could see him as I drive by.

Gets a   from me too.
Very interesting, i have eaten peyote I've grown before
and got nothing from it, after trying that green slime, i
realise i really did get NOTHING from the peyote in comparison.
Very interesting visuals, very different from shrooms or acid,
and very worth while imo.

Very interesting night with many mescal moments :-)

The mescal gods were smiling on me that night as my final
?40 taxi ride was paid for by a complete stranger :-)

Is Peru a fairly inexpensive place to vacation? I'd like to go somewhere in latin america next summer to practice my spanish. I was thinking Mexico, because I could drive, but I like the idea of peru.

Btw, how much does a dose go for in american dollars there?

"A nation's hope of lasting peace cannot be firmly based upon any race in armaments but rather upon just relations and honest understanding with all other nations...

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed... The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. We pay for a single fighter with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people..."

it's pretty cheap. everywhere we stayed had a bathroom and was about 5 - 30 US a night. lots of interesting stuff - floating islands, mummies, condors in the canyon, ancient clifftop ubercivilisation complexes, like the ones at machu picchu ...

definitely a good trip. do it

here is a link to some holiday snaps i posted tonight:  >click me<
