Currently soaking 20lbs of WBS in water with gypsum... I heard someone mention that you can put spent coffee grounds in the bird seed. I didn't do this but has anybody heard of this?

I use a <25% liquid coffee solution to soak and simmer. adding coffee grinds may make it a bit too nutritious and colonize slower but I doubt it would hurt anything.

Coffee doesn't cause contams. Improper sterilization causes contams, or using a contaminated syringe will cause contams. Sterilized coffee is sterile and uncontaminated. (Doesn't mean you should use it in grain jars though.)

Sounds good. Let it soak another 5 or 6 hours.

It has a high misuse rate. People shoot LC into jars then blame the coffee for their contams.

honestly soaking with coffee grains might work if you rinse the shit out of it before simmer.
I remember reading a thread where someone experimented with grinds in grains. as a matter of fact I think it was doc t that started the thread.

You gotta check dates on assertions like that, there's old info floating around.
And check the poster too- some people have different life experiences than others. Post after post after post in Mush Cult is somebody looking for a contam source because they "know their LC is good".
If the coffee is sterilized it's sterilized, y'know?
@bishlap: yeah, I've tried coffee grounds in grain jars. Didn't make much difference as far as I could tell and it's kind of ugly.

Im chugging coffee and energy drinks to prepare for my Engineering Calculus 2 final exam and when you put "<25%" then that means great than 25% lol

Actually it could be read either way but a more accurate way to put it is "coffee<25%" then I know that the coffee is less than 25%

don't you remember the aligator eating the big number in second grade? lol "absolutely the worst way to explain to children IMO"
but mathematically speakin if you want to be anal coffee<25% would be the way it would be written when coffee would be the variable meaning I could be implying coffee >75%.
but everyone gets the point dudes just a bit tweaked.
