Karo is primarily dextrose, which is the least-nutritious sugar possible. And the rest is fructose which isn't much better.
Mushrooms need some food, sugar isn't enough.

Not to bring an old post up, but Nuts are good is right down the orad from me. Ive used their rye for 4+ runs and have had no problems.
I feel the rye contams less, but the WBS colonizes a day or two faster. The Rye is also much easier to clean and prep

If you know all that, why are you asking about WBS and how to prep it? Stop bumping old threads, go get some rye and use that.
Also, if you see a difference in contam rates from one grain to another you are doing something wrong. Either your inoculant is contaminated (LC, I suppose?) or you aren't sterilizing correctly.

He is currently out of rye so I cant go there lol. And I meant imo I can leave a fully colonized rye jar for a couple weeks longer than a wbs jar before I see metabolites/moisture/some thing out of the ordinary.
I do admit that I nocc'd up 40 jars one time with untested lc and learned my lesson
