What's the make & model number of your PC?

Enough water to do a run of 90-120 minutes. :smirk:
^^there's no definite answer to that question, btw. Each PC is different.
I can run my AA930 on 4-6 cups of water for 120 minutes at 15 PSI easily.
My AA25X (sterilizer) runs on 2 cups of water.

first off TL thanks fore your help and time...my pressure cooker is a duromatic...it looks like it will hold 3 jars at a time...is it imperitive to not have any of that water in the PC touch the botom of jars?do you elevate your jars on lids?mine has a tray but it only elevates barely a centimeter above the bottom of PC

a little water touching the bottom of the jars won't hurt anything.
I'd elevate them a bit more, though.

Here's a few links on your PC:
http://www.fantes.com/manuals/duromatic-pressure-cooking-time-charts.pdf
http://www.pleasanthillgrain.com/kuhn_rikon_faq.aspx

The second link tells you how to read your pressure gauge & what pressure it's at.

GL buddy.

One way to avoid your PC running outta water is to run it at 14 PSI instead of 15.
That way you're not releasing a bunch of steam as the toggle weight won't rock on the PC.

Don't mention sponsors & growing, though.
Those spores are for microscopy work, only.

Water touching the Jars is fine (although make sure not to put cold jars into already hot water), you just don't want the jars sitting on the bottom of the pot.

one thing if it hasn't been mentioned.
when your pc reaches 15 psi it requies very little heat to remain there.

mine has no Gage either what I do is let the water in the bottom come to a light boil before puting on the lid, then as soon as it burps one good time I turn my flame down to a little less than ¼ with a .5" flame.
you should hear a steady his with few burps of steam.

RR actually suggests running at 14 psi to lessen or avoid burps of steam and pressure.
