    #16193372 - 05/07/12 02:23 AM (11 years, 11 months ago)

Hello everyone, Im getting curious about my second flush here. they are P. cubensis B+, and I'd like to know from some one who has grown them before if these mushrooms look like they are almost ready to pick or if they have a little growing left. they have been growning for about 4 days now and i cant wait for my first REAL harvest!

I'd give them another 18-24 hours, You wanna pick when or just before the veil breaks and exposes the gills on the underside of the cap.

Oh yeah, just make sure you keep humidity and air exchange up. Your container that they are growing in doesn't seem to be ideal for containing RH while allowing good air exchange, but the mushrooms do not look like they are suffering. What kinda fruiting chamber is that?

its a mycodome 3.0, I just had the dome off of it to take the picture. the RH stays at about 95% and the temp is about 75. i fan them and mist them about 5-7 times a day.

Yeah, they will get much bigger

I like to pick them after the veil breaks and the cap starts to open fully.

That's likely another 24-48 hours away

You can pick them whenever you want. You are just losing out on the dry weight you will have.

The more patient you can be, the more you will get up until the point where the caps flatten and they get ready to drop their spores

Ive read alot on the forums about how they are at their peak potency just before the veil breaks.

Its not so much potency level at a certain growth, as it is weight vs amount of actives contained. From what the pros say, they are done producing actives by the time the veil is getting stretched because they have already started to put energy into producing spores. Kinda similar to how cannabis stops producing THC in mass amounts once it has been pollinated, because after that happens it dedicates its energy into producing seeds.

So if you are just looking at personal use, and you're more interested in a good dose rather than weight, you're gonna get more actives than mushroom material in the shroom that hasn't fully developed.

:whathesaid: If I'm consuming them wet. I preffer to pick them right as or after the viel breaks. If I wanted some prints to futher my studies, I allow the cap to fully open and flatten out a bit. Takes some practice but you kinda get the feel for when the best time to harvest to print them. Those are looking good.

Although I can't believe you spent so much money on a MycoDome :smbfacepalm: There are much cheaper just as effective alternatives. But since you already have it oh well

I don't ever dry them unless I plan on giving them to friends, but when I do I harvest after the viel tears and the cap forms a nice dome. Before it flattens out to drop spores.

Yeah, anytime before the spores start to drop.... Spores IMO taste horrible, worse then the fruits themselves :lmafo:

Waiting for veilbreak seems to be a common activity around here.
