My first successfull grow - mazatapec
    #16195237 - 05/07/12 02:57 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Well its been a journey finally completing my first grow.  First 2 times the syringes came from non-sponsors (just rushed into it and didn't come to the shroomery.org first).  We'll sporeworks' mazatapec syringe did wonders.  FC = Poor man's pod.  Tub + dual airpump attached to 2 12' bubble stones.  Lava rock.  Lamp w 2 6500k florescents (might of been over kill for such a small tub but will be great for future grows).  Also lucked out by finding a glass top to the pmp.  Fruit's came out nicely and abundantly.  Could have done a couple more flushes but had to move out so i just ditched the cakes after the first flush.  I think some of them were mutants because of the ultra inverted caps, and no i didn't wait too long to pull, they began growing like that from the get go (maybe also b/c that cake was full of hyphel knots, idk but let me know what you think).  As far as dried weight goes, I can't give you an answer.  Too many giveaways and fun times haha. Time for a LC and WBS experiment :smirk:

Nice grow! :mushroomgrow:

Don't spoil your success with LC.
Get into agar work, it's cheaper and easier than it looks.
Clone a big mushroom onto some agar, and proceed from there. :yesnod:

Excellent job my friend. Those are some fat and tasty looking fruits. As far as liquid cultures, I have never tried, but a lot of what I have read lately is that they are not worth the trouble because of their extreme proficiency to contaminate. Plus, because any contamination is really hard to perceive in a liquid culture, you may not know until you inoculate. This make LC very insidious. With agar, any contamination is usually easily spotted. You will probably want to invest in a HEPA flow hood, or at least a good glove box before committing to agar. Keep up the excellent work, and keep the good times rollin'.

I would rate you if I could. +5 for the fat fruits.        :vibin:

^^^ yeah, it's not that LC contaminates any worse, just that you can't tell until it's too late.
Waste of time and resources. I used to be a fan, then I realized it's pointless.

Flowhood is nice but a still air box is all you need.
