Ethylene vinyl acetate-(also known as EVA) is the copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. The weight percent vinyl acetate usually varies from 10 to 40%, with the remainder being ethylene. It is a polymer that approaches elastomeric materials in softness and flexibility, yet can be processed like other thermoplastics. The material has good clarity and gloss, barrier properties, low-temperature toughness, stress-crack resistance, hot-melt adhesive water proof properties, and resistance to UV radiation. EVA has little or no odor and is competitive with rubber and vinyl products in many electrical applications.
attapulgite-is a magnesium aluminium phyllosilicate with formula (Mg,Al)2Si4O10(OH)·4(H2O) which occurs in a type of clay soil common to the Southeastern United States. It is one of the types of fuller's earth.
Acetaldehyde-(systematically ethanal) is an organic chemical compound with the formula CH3 CHO, sometimes abbreviated by chemists as MeCHO (Me = methyl). It is one of the most important aldehydes, occurring widely in nature and being produced on a large scale industrially. Acetaldehyde occurs naturally in coffee, bread, and ripe fruit, and is produced by plants as part of their normal metabolism. It is also produced by oxidation of ethylene and is popularly believed to be a cause of hangovers from alcohol consumption through drinking spirits.[3] Pathways of exposure include air, water, land or groundwater as well as drink and smoke.[4]
Vinyl acetate is an organic compound with the formula CH3COOCH=CH2. A colorless liquid with a pungent odor, it is the precursor to polyvinyl acetate, an important polymer in industry.
now the question is can this replace gypsum and is it safe to use

I would just get a bag of gypsum, sometimes they add antimicrobial elements to dry wall so it will not harbor mold.
gypsum can be found in most garden sections.

What brand?
Is this joint compound or actual drywall?
I've been breaking pieces off the same sheet of drywall for several years.
Works great for me.

You need to take what you're going to use, smear it on a piece of cardboard, let it dry fully, then grind it up into a fine powder.
Joint compound kinda sucks. glues your substrate together like cement.
Why wouldn't you just get gypsum in the garden department or even a sheet of plain old gypsum wallboard in the drywall section?
I don't think the plastics in there will hurt anything, it should work, but you had at least two better options in the same store.

Brewing stores sell pure gypsum to aid in the flocculation of colloids from suspension in the boiling wort. Especially in pale ales. That's where I get mine. It's Dirt cheap there.
