day 22 does my mono tub need more fae?
    #16190122 - 05/06/12 11:57 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

spawned each tub with a quart and a half to 4 quarts sub. they were put into fruiting conditions on day 7. this slowed down mycelium growth a great deal. they never fully colonized. pins showed their heads yesterday. there has been a small amount of growth in the fruits since yesterday. and a few more pins have shown up. there is no casing layer either, and there is about 30 or so very small pins in each tub. this has definitely not been a perfect run by any means. but just wondering what icould do from here to help these tubs along? more fae? my holes are only a half inch or so. case? any help is appreciated!

This needs to be said: there never was a war. "How can you say that, Bill?" Well, a war is when two armies are fighting. So you can see, right there, there never was a war … People say to me, "Hey, Bill, the war made us feel better about ourselves." Really? What kind of people are these with such low self-esteem that they need a war to feel better about themselves? May I suggest, instead of a war to feel better about yourself, perhaps … sit-ups? Maybe a fruit cup? Eight glasses of water a day? -Bill Hicks

Yes it needs alot more fae
try fanning and make holes that are 1 1/2 inchs
put a total of 6 holes on each long side. 3 up towards the top and 3 down toward the substrate.
loosely pack with polyfill

yeah, those holes look way too small, try making them larger and/or drill few more. i would increase fae, it cerainly wont hurt, you can always mist a bit if your substrate looks dry

do you think because it is not fully colonized that it would be too big of a risk to open and fan it?

I would be a little concerned with opening your tub to fan, only because you have some substrate that didn't fully colonize. This could give contams a foot hole in you sub. Just keep a close eye on it and TRY to keep the area around the tub as clean as possible. Next time, let your tub fully colonize before you introduce to fruiting conditions.

Don't forget to drill your holes from the inside out
