Thank you to Doc T for the mini design, RR for your videos, and to this whole community. I have learned so much here. How awesome that there is a place for people like us.
I have 2 pf cake grows under my belt, and this is my first attempt at bulk substrates. Process: 5 quart jars of rye soaked w/ gypsum per RR video spawned to coir, coffee, gypsum, verm in a mini monotub per Doc T's design. Harvested today for 20.6 oz fresh... filled my dehydrator, and I have a second mono that is a few days away from harvest.

Awesome! What strain? I love the freckles, are you going to clone one of those?
You can get a more even pinset using RR's wax paper trick. Tear off a new clean piece of wax paper, crumple into a ball, flatten it back out then lay it on the substrate. And you might need to water it just a smidge more than you're doing. But that's a nice grow!

Damn, that's a nice harvest for that size tub. What were the dimensions on that?
Hopefully my mini mono will look like that when it's done, nice job.

Thanks. These are Golden Teachers. I got a more even pinset on the other mini mono, i'll post those pics when I harvest that tub in a couple of days.
Q: I am soaking my tub now after harvesting... the sub is a little torn up from harvesting. Do you guys usually get more than one flush from these mini monos (ie. is it worth it to soak and re-fruit, or just move on?)
So psyched to try these... got a long walk in the woods coming up next week. Woot!

I usually get 2 big flushes and 1 or 2 smaller flushes unless there's contams. With five quarts of rye (did I read that right?) you should easily get 2 more flushes.

How are you harvesting? You should be using a sharp blade to harvest.

You can filter the search to show threads only started by him. Doesn't take too long to look through a few pages of results.

That's all well and good. Just don't see the point in being egotistical on a forum where we help one another. I mean not everyone has been doing this for years.

I know you asked Doc, but here's my recipe I've used with great success:
7 litres manure 1/2 brick coir 2 quarts verm 2 cups gypsum (dissolved in water) 4 qts water
Coir prepared separately, all added together in the end, oven bagged and pasteurized on stove.

The 5 quarts were divided between 2 tubs, so 2.5 q rye to this tub. Coir recipe for both tubs was 1 brick coir, 2q verm, 1q coffee and 1 half pint gypsum. Brought to field capacity and pasteurized in jars for 90 mins.
I should have used a blade to harvest, I really tore up the sub. The angle would be difficult to maneuver a knife in a small tub. Do you let the whole brick slide out first?
I'll post an update of the second tub. It's a slightly larger sterilite. Interesting for that one... No monsters, but many more thinner boomers.
Thanks again to this community. Can't wait to chew em up

Use scissors. That's how I do mine. And with great results!! Plus the substrate recovers quicker and is not as opened to contams as well.

^^^ I was a scissors guy for a long time, but recently I've been twist-and-plucking. Try it both ways, see which works better for you. Part of it depends on genetics, some substrains are firm grippers, others practically leap of the substrate into your hand.
