Pan Cyan on cakes
    #16188529 - 05/06/12 12:02 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

I've been researching pan cyan grow logs, and have seen a few in which they were fruited from cakes.  My question is how can a casing layer be applied to a cake and maintain proper thickness and shape?  I've yet to find a clear answer to this.

You can return the cakes to the jar after you dunk and then add a thin casing layer.  fruit them in the jars basically.

Dunk and roll gives you a thin casing layer.  Not sure if it would be enough for pans.

From what I've read, pans need atleast 1/4 inch of casing to fruit.  I think it was proffessorpinhead who posted the last log I read showing the pans fruiting on cakes, he did't give any detail as to the technique used to case them though.

if i had brf spawn i would crumble to bulk manure in trays, let those colonize/consolidate and case the top of them. either take the sub out of the trays and put em in your FC or just leave them in the trays.these bowls are 2cups so their perfect for a 1:1 ratio.

I'm planing to case in trays like most of the grow logs say to, I'm just curious how the few that show pans on cakes pulled it off.  Trays definately look like they'd be less hassle.

You could put the cake in a small flower pot, then case. Or use the cake to spawn to bulk.

I have used similar containers. They work great.

Pans don't need a casing layer to fruit. I've done them a few times just fine without it. Try it out for yourself and see.

Here's the easiest mushroom fruit you'll ever do:

Put 2 tupperware containers together like that, with holes in the top, add spawn and pasteurized manure + verm, and then colonize till 100% covered, then fruit.

The pics were mine. Search for "comprehensive panaeolus notes" on here and you should see my thread pop up with more research than you'll ever need and/or use.
