Poor pod! holy humidity batman!

Well i finally put togeather a poor man's pod
and HOLY SHIT! this thing puts out a TON of humidity!!!!
i didnt even seal the edges or anything.. i can literally SEE the humidity in the tank..
it looks like a friggin jungle....

now heres my question...
im doing casings... will this ultra humidity affect my caseings in a bad way?
i know u are supposed to lower humidity when the mushrooms are formed, but i never did that when i was using perlite, and i never had a problem....
but i never had this much humidity when i was using perlite!!!!

what EXACTLY will happen if i continue to grow my caseings in this high humidity?
what detrimental effects will it have on my mushies?
and what do u suppose i do to lower the humidity (if i have to at all....)

Put two holes in the top of the chamber. Then cut two pieces of rubber big enough to cover the holes. Put a screw threw the rubber and mount to the top in a way that the rubber can slide over the holes. By sliding the rubber and making the holes larger or smaller you can control the humidity to the exact percent.

i was just thinking of leaving the top open a crack...
but thats only if it causes my mushrooms harm.. so far it dont seem to be doing anything bad.....

does anyone know what exactly will happen if the mushies get too much humidity in the post-pinning phase?

It's gonna depend on the size of the chamber. I made mine big enough to put my thumb into. Doesn't really matter I guess since you gonna be opening and closing it.

Unless you are getting alot of cobweb or fuzzy mycelium covering your mushrooms/pins i don't think you have anything to worry about. You should be ok... if you have a POD set up, you ahve a fan right? Why do you have 100% humidity with the fan going alot...? It shouldn't be too much of a problem even if it isn't ideal.

i dont have a fan going....
just the air diffusers and whatnot....

actually i AM having alot of fuzzy myc. on my mushrooms...
i cracked open the top of the chamber about an inch, that should keep the humidity down a bit....

*update*
i got humidity down to about 90% by propping the top of the chamber open about 2 inches
do you think this will cause an increase in contaminants in the chamber?
ive never really had a problem with contams before, then again, i never had to leave my chamber open before.....

any have any ideas on how to lower humidity and fight off contams???
i already added a good amount of h202 to the water.....

Ok, i finally got it down....
i set up my cool mist (from my old system) to blow dry air in....
this keeps the humidity around 85%
i leave it on for an hour, off for an hour etc...
as soon as i turn it off the terrarium reaches 100% in under 10 min....
this pod sure does kick out humidity!
with the cool mist going, it should keep the mushrooms from getting waterlogged..

check that, 1hr on was way too long for my little friends, they got all dried out and damaged.. i now have it at 10min on at a time every other hour and its working great....

what im looking foward to trying is makeing 2 WBS casings coir+verm+oystershell (i know, i should spawn it, but im impatient, i want to try this NOW) fruiting them as normal the 1st flush, then taking one casing out of its tray, and setting it directly on the geolite, and leaving the other casing in the tray...
then i can compare side by side which does better...
i figure why should cake users only benifit from the geolite's asorbtion properties...

more posts to come.....
hrmmph, i should probably get some batteries for my digi cam and take some pics... but im lazy...
