Does anyone have any idea what this is?
It was in a bunch of my pl.djamor cracked corn jars... I tossed them... it's now taken over this mycobag.
Yeeech..

Btw, I'm not sure if it's water damage or not... the other jars that succumbed to this foe, also had wetspot/excess moisture in the bottom of the jars (first time using CC)
Anyway... I mushed up the mycobag and the inside of it wasn't yellow (didn't really expect it to be)
Like I said though, I've researched it.. (see HERE ) looked around... no clue... any help?
Quote:
Aspergillus flavus, a yellow to yellowish green species, produces the deadly aflatoxins. A. flavus attacks cottonseed meals, peanuts and other seeds high in oil that have been stored in hot, damp environments. Of all the biologically produced toxins, the aflatoxins are the most potent hepatacarcinogens yet found. The toxicity of this species was largely unknown until, in 1960, 100,000 turkeys mysteriously died from an outbreak of this disease in Great Britain.
Since A. flavus grows on practically all types of grain, this species is of serious concern to mushroom spawn producers. Careful handling of any molds, particulary those of the genus Aspergillus, should be a primary responsibility of all managers and workers in mushroom farms.
I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllly hope it's not that

Yellows are bad... toss it without opening. It could also be a yeast, which can cause nasty infections that are difficult to get rid of... especially if they get into your nervous system.

Well shit.. I guess it's not that big of a loss, since the cracked corn was really cheap, and the mycobag was free (I won it)
I tossed everything out. It's weird though, I did some popcorn jars at the same time, and the didn't contam, just the cracked corn/mycobag.
I hope I don't get sick from having this in my house for a few weeks. Yeeech

As long as you didn't open it up and take a big whiff to see what it smells like, you should be fine. If you did open it up and take a big whiff to see what it smells like, be on the lookout for sore throat, cough, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, etc.
