Monotub Question - Secret Ingredients?..

I was wondering, are there some secret ingredients that I don't know about? Is this a conspiracy or what? Why do I see everyone else growing these monster shrooms and I don't even get near what some of you guys are producing? I'm using the monotub method, and I follow Damion's coir tek. I'm using the right amount of ingredients, but what the hell? Is there some magical ingredient that I'm missing?
One brick of coir, 3 qts fine verm, couple cups of gypsum... is there something else I could be adding to my sub to make it more potent?
Thanks

Plus genetics. I use less gypsum, but

Love your tubs are missing the all important ingredient of pure love.
No seriously what your missing is agar. MS grows are fuct you never know what you're going to get. Goto agar and try out a few isolates for a better yield. Id suggest taking a nice pin from a cluster and putting that to agar and trying out the several isolates that will form from that. I bet there is a winner there

Peace, love, and understanding. It's all the fungus really wants. That and to be left alone.
Monotubs don't always get good airflow and evaporation. That doesn't help.

i add ginger root, cedar shavings, 5 fine hairs of a tarantula, the blood of a virgin, and 1 fingernail of a young child.
not really...haha

anyways all jokes aside your best bet is cloning and isolating on agar for optimum yield and genetics. and like Doc_T said alot of monos get different results based on poor airflow . try playing around with your level of density when stuffing holes with polyfil as well as fanning/misting. you want the optimal amount of fresh air that can be equally replenished with water content and humidity.

I prefer sheetrock over regular gypsum. Maybe get some cow poop in there. That's how I roll. As long as you were patient enough to know what you were doing and how it works, success is yours.
Love to ya

plus I like to drop a nice hot steamy load into the substrate
plus why do you want gigantic mushrooms anyways, they're fun buy more for novelty sake. The bigger the mushroom the less potent. I like my fruits medium sized. I have heard that using poo does increase growth though..

I've seen used coffee grounds in several grows. Try a few different methods and find theone that works best for you.

experiment as much as you can! i found that by tweaking your setup you can get better results, but what's most important is genetics. i have very nice GT strain that i isolated, and no matter how i try to grow them, they will always outperform everything else
