You don't kill it, it grows back as long as you leave the roots. On old cacti, the button is on the top, so you can actually take the button without taking the whole plant. Plus, peyote is much more potent than San Pedro.

Be carful when you harvest it, it is endangered and it grows VERY slowly. I think it's better it grow it yourself if you insist of having peyote. Graph it on a pedro and it will grow much faster. Like it can go from teh size of a thumbtack to a useable size within a year. Have a bunch of them so you have a good supply. Good things come to those that wait. If you can't wait, have some more pedro, buy some to dose right away and grow out more. I heard that the alkaloid content for graphed peyote was low. So you have to root it and put ti in soil after it's the size you want. I'm not an expert but I hope this helps.

please don't use wild peyote, please don't let this ancent cactus die out. Don't be greedy, let this species grow and recover so that other generations can expiriance it.

Don't go out in the wild to get it, just grow your own. That way you can use it yourself and still help perpetuate the species. I'm going to join the Peyote Way Church as soon as I get 50 bucks. Then I'll buy a couple of buttons and some seeds.

...and by the way, Peyote is not just Mescaline...there is a lot of differents delirogens in it...that makes the "Mescalito" difference... Mine is in bloom right now ! So pretty, the problem of growing Peyote is that you grow affection for your plants too and as time pass, you finally don't want to do any harm to your lovely Peyotl...

Man, what do you want peyote for? You have to kill some old assed buttons +20 total years between them, as opposed to a few feet of totally legal san pedro centers....
I'm going to buy them from companies that probably mass produce them, I have no urge to hurt they peyote but I dont feel this will hurt them anymore or their natural enviornment. I'm just looking for legal issues... I wont be getting wild peyote.

yea grafting can give you 20 years worth of growth in 3-4 years, not to mention countless more buttons to graft to more cacti. It never ends. Here is another link of larger buttons being grafted. my 1st attempt worked great! http://www.nansnook.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=22&t=7031&s=281b708530013a98f9ec329c7779a8a3

I'm going to order some seeds from a site listed on (Source Edited), 100 for 30 bucks. Do you think I could persuade the site owner to lable them "San Pedro" seeds. Even with a membership to Peyote Way, your Constitutional rights are not always guaranteed. After 9/11, how often do feds check the mail?
