Hello all, first post here at the shroomery, by far not my first time visiting XD
But, I have recently invested in Maza spores and a grow kit from this website. Its from the spore farmer and thats al,l im saying cause i dont know if i can use 3-rd party links.
*My question* After the mycellium completley colonizes the vacuum sealed bag, you cut it open, for the mush to grow out of the casing layer. Well i want to slip that colonized cake out of that bag when they start pinning (or maybe a bit prior) and put the cake into a terrarium (with perlite as a bottom layer of course) and be able to have a higher yeild- rather than just the few mushrooms that grow out of the casing layer.
Because if you watch that video you can see the yeild isent too high, i went with the method for very sterile conditions of course.
Sounds like it would work but this is my first grow and im waiting on my supplies so i figured i'd figure out before i started.
Thanks in advance!

If the humidity and other factors in your FC are right, I would say go for it, or at least learn from your experience in cultivation.

So far, i was going to use just 10 gal aquarium, and use saran wrap over top, if i get the perlite nice n juicy with water, i think i should be fine as far as humidity, and them not drying out.
Thanks for the help, i will make a journal on the grow and update as much as possible,
I also thought of breaking the cake down, putting it in a pan, covering it with verm, and having a larger surface area to grow, (id assume- higher yeilds)
Any thoughts on that?
EDIT: Its a 2.5 lb. vacuum sealed bag composed of Verm, corn that ground into a flower, and he says other things to balance PH for ideal colonizing conditions.

Right here

Don't use the aquarium, you'll need more FAE than that. Build a proper FC, you'll be glad you did.

Wow thanks!
So i assume that "dunking" the cakes, is an easy way to get around using perlite?

No dunking cakes is used in conjunction with the perlite. Perlite takes care of humidity and dunk and roll takes care of the cakes thirst.

And the plot thickens, lol.
So, Lets say this, i have a clear Plastic container (Tote sized). Drill holes in it, put 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch of perlite on the bottom, and do i place the cakes directly on the perlite or no?
And i was also going to buy a bubble rock, get small gauge tubing, and but the bubble rock in a small jar of spring water inside the FC,

Stick to the tek...
1/4 inch holes on all six sides. 4 inches of perlite. Put the cakes on foil or jar lids.
Works good. That's why its popular.

Yeah, see i went with the Premade bag, just for the reason i cant 100% be sure that itll be completely sterile. That is a concern of mine. And i found this to be the easiest way to accomplish what i really need (just any yeild ((personal ofcourse))
So basically, when my bag is fully colonized i will cut it out, and place it in a tek - styled terrium, as you say.
IMO it being out of the bag, were all sides can have a chance to fruit would greatly increase my yeild ( although taking my # of flushes down )And thats what im trying to achieve for the least amount of money.
Again thanks for helpin out!
