they are much less potent:

Panaeolus subbalteatus

various tests conducted reveald an average of about. .07-.14% psilocybin and near 0% psilocin. In Stamet's book, it reports that Siberian specimens reported .14-.36% psilocybin.

Psilocybe cubensis

an average of about 0.50-0.63% psilocybin and about .11%-.33% psilocin. Mexican and Amazonian strains report much more psilocin than psilocybin (.15%psilocybin and up to .50% psilocin)

im sure mj can confirm the validity of this but this is taking straight from Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World by Stamets.

Pan. subbs are about the saem potency as cubensis.

one fresh ounce or a little more or ferom 3-5 dried grams is equal to a lever 3 or more troip.

i dont know mj, perhaps i am giving wrong info, but that is what Stamet's "Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World" says.

it gives tests based on Heim and Hofmann (rather old, 1958), Gartz (1994), Stijve and de Meijer (1993) for P. cubensis

P. subbalteus have tests by Stijve and Meijer (1993) and Gartz (1993) and Gurevich (1993). none of the tests revieled any any detectable psilocin in the specimens although they reported variation of psilocybin content from specimen to specimen. most were in the .07-.14% range for psilocybin but up to .36% for Gurevich, from Russian specimens. of course, it is to safe to say that there are quantities of psilocin in subbs similar to those found in liberty caps (per unit mass) because of the occasional and limited bluing reaction of both those species.

dum, dtum.

hi mjshroomer. What did you tell them when you asked permission to walk in their fields? Did you tell them that you were looking for mushrooms or did you make up another story? Did you tell them that you are a researcher or a scientist or that you were in a mycology class or club?

I am thinking that being honest and telling them that you are interested in mushrooms, and then mentioning ones like the oyster mushroom and morels, then they wouldn't think it's suspicious. You would be honest in telling them that you are interested in mushrooms, and you wouldn't be lying when you told them that you are interested in oyster mushrooms and other choice edibles. You would just not tell them that it was magic ones that you were really after. If you are able to name a few species, then you would sound less suspicious than if you just asked to look for mushrooms in the field hehe.

aye i agree, but it still give no excuse for going into a horse field.

the worst are the ones that are contemptuous towards you because you asked them to look and they make up some lame ass excuse because they can because its their property. i dont understand why not let someone look around your property? i think it is more of a property thing than even the shrooms being a drug.

IT is rare to find P. subbs in a horse field. They grow in cow manuire and/or horse manure primarily when it is mixed with hay compost and/or stable shavings and wood shavings, such as those at riding stables.

Riding stables oftern have horse shows and one can always bring a camera to photograph anything there.

Also people come to get compost from stables all of the time. Yo can ask to look around and take some photos of shrooms. If they say no they say no. Better than buckshot in the butt.
mj

And your boidy has to convert the psilocyine into psilocine through amination before you get off.

Also, it is rare to find quantities of P. subbs. Most only find a dose or two in an individual location.

Of course, Joshua found a beautiful lawned area a year ago buit aI haven't heard if it refruited since. Angrry shroom found a monster patch a while back. His images are located at my site.

I found only one field of PN. subbs iun Hawaii in 12 years which fruited every year in manure buit there were also Copelandia cyanescens in the pasture and Peacocks. Now the land is part of the Kualau Hawaiin home Tract and the cattle are gone and they are building homes on the land.

AS always, yor best bets for the Pn/. subbs are early spring before the hot months and after the hot months before the freeze during the first fall rains.

Of ourse different climates have different seasons. The one I describe is good for the midwest to the PNW and most of Europe.

mj

I am basing those doses on personal bioassays of me and several other people who have eaten them.

Guzman has eaten 45 cubensis small shrooms weighing a little over one fresh ounce. You could also have one large P. cubensis of one ounce or six cubes weighing one ounce and the same with P. subbs weighing one ounce.

I just found some growing from old bailes of hay used to hold back water runnoff.
I was atracted to the baiels because they were covered with inactive mushrooms. So I stoppped and looked around I figure I will come out with about a quarter dried. How long should I waite to go back should a few days be long enough?
Are there any look alike pan. Subbs that have black spores?
