Modified SGFC idea, experienced input wanted

I was just wondering if this has been attempted, I had this idea while setting up my SGFC and thinking about how I'll keep it warm this winter. Now what I'm wondering is if anyone has tried using steam to keep the perlite hydrated from below and keep the terrarium warm and humid at the same time? Obviously this would eequire extra equipment and some tuning, but do you think it could work?

Yes, it could work, but you'd have to make sure not to saturate your cakes due to excess steam.
It's not winter in Texas anymore, btw

Lol, I know it ain't winter now, I'm just planing ahead since my trailer has no insulation or heating. I'm thinking of something powerfull enough to keep my mushies warm when it hits the 30s again next January. I have a pot still I use for whiskey, I'm wondering if I can just disconnect the water feed from the condenser and run a hose from it to the bottom of the sgfc and keep the still on a low heat, watching the water level ofcourse, I have no intention of burning my trailer down like a few other people I know lol.

Just bustin' your balls, bro
You can invest in a nice little electric oil-filled radiator style space heater.

my dog loves the smell of mushis They're around $40 new, don't hurt your RH that much & really keep everything nice and warm. If you want to invest a bit more, you can get one w/ a programmable thermostat rather than a dial.
Either one works great. I use one in my colonization room during winter.

A heater is definately my plan, I just couldn't let the steam idea go unexplored, it just sounds too interesting an idea for me to put down without theorizing on. I may set up another SGFC and my still in my shed this winter just for s&g's.

a heating pad under the fc will do the trick nicely, but you have to watch it because it'll keep the humidity @ 100%. The one I have was $10 at walgreens and on low, it stays 85f, and keeps my big fc around the 70's in the winter

I've read good things about heating pads when used properly, I'm just interested in the possible application of steam to serve a dual purpose. I'm gonna work on a design and test it with and empty SGFC just to see if it could be controlled well, if so, I may be posting pics of mushies under a shelf of icecicles lol.
