Depends... I usually get growth between 4-7 days..... Honestly if you made LC with a MS syringe it only speeds up growth upon inoculation about maybe a 5-7 days. It's almost pointless with MS unless you have made a Clone/Isolate.

Dear Peeps. I'm uncertain where the best place to ask this is , but maybe y'all can help.I'm a new grower and am preparing to start my second grow. I intend to do a liquids culture, and I plan to grow to horse poo.My question is; Should I inocculate brf jars with the LC or Can i go right to the hpoo with the LC?

You can't. Not if you're using spores. You might get lucky, might not. But you can't control it.
Agar technique, on the other hand, gives you complete control over contamination. Grain LC is better than sugar LC from spores. But if the syringe isn't quite clean, your GLC can have a subtle contaminant.
Agar. It's where you want to be.

How long until liquid culture inoculation starts to show growth?

I inoculated some pint jars yesterday with between 1 and 1.5cc of LC and a quart jar with 2cc.
When should I expect to start seeing signs of mycelial growth?

It's nice to make your LC like a week or so before you plan to get started so you're injecting already growing mycelium instead of waiting for spores to germinate.
A clone or iso LC is better though like DynGBreeD said.

I used to be a big LC fan... then I realized how pointless it is. 5-7 days isn't the issue. Spores->agar->grain->g2g gets you more spawn than you can use in less time than you'd believe. And it's clean. Which saves 5-7 days easily.

1) don't make LC 2) do make brf jars 3) don't spawn them to poo 4) do fruit them as cakes in a shotgun FC, as shown in Roger Rabbit's videos: http://www.mushroomvideos.com/

Or you could check out the Horse Poo Tek in my signature.
I would have done a bulk grow for my first time instead of PF tek if information was better organized on this forum. Sometimes you ask one question and get lots of different answers. All of the information is here to make it so easy, it's just very fragmented.
As far as what I'm doing, I would love to work with agar and get an isolate. Thing is, my first grow hasn't even been harvested yet. If I get some nice mushroom, I'll try to isolate it and then go to G2G. And speaking of G2G, when my next round of jars finishes, I'll probably use a few for G2G with MS genetics. But the iso is definitely what I'm after.
I've got a small monotub and a bulk try colonizing at the moment and waiting 18.5 quarts worth of spawn... It's with a few of those pint jars I'll do some G2G. Then if I get a good mushroom for an isolate, I'll get to working on that.
I already have plenty of spawn on it's way, I'm in no hurry.

Really? I would have done cakes instead of grains for my first grow if I knew then what I know now.

Ok , if the SCFC is the tote with the saturated pearlite, then that's how i did my first grow. I was wanting to streach my spores out. I dont have prints stockpiled yet

Cakes are the superior choice for a first grow for many reasons. Yield is excellent, ingredients are plentiful. But for me, the top reason is modularity. If a cake goes bad, you toss it and fruit the other 11. If a jar of spawn was bad, your tub is bad. You lose it, the materials and time it took, and possibly spread contams around. Plus cakes are much, much faster from needle to harvest than any other method.

Yep. Cakes are so underrated. Best way to grow out and test isolates. Best way for beginners to learn the craft without putting all their eggs in one basket. And once you've done them a few times it's really easy and quick to make up a batch.

Also; I would never ever recommend inoculating a nutritive liquid culture with spores Perhaps a grain from a master grain jar, or a clean tissue transfer from a fruitbody; or for best and most reliable results, a transfer from a clean culture grown out on agar

Yeah, that makes sense.
I'm looking forward to getting my first isolate soon, need to read up on some stuff.
Does anyone have any good links or teks they can throw my way? I'd really appreciate it
