Well, I work a lot. So, needed something to circulate the air in the room while I'm gone. Then fan a bunch when I'm home. Fruiting Fri, so ill have all weekend to manually fan, but during the week ill need something to circulate. And I'm still a noob, but after 100% colonization wouldn't it be able to fight off contams on its own? And wouldn't the polyfill block contams from getting in?
Still learning... Lol

once fully colonized it will be more resistant to contams and yes the pollyfill will help block contams from getting in in a room the lower part hold a lot more mold spores then the fan will kick them all up and put them all through the room then opening to mist you have a greater chance of them landing in your fc
also circulating air around your room will have no affect on your fea it will do nothing for your fc
beside a monotub is ment to be started and let go you can pretty much forget about a monotub until your ready to harvest
sorry for writing so much

I use a ceiling fan and I have now problems. Just make sure you clean it regularly. Dust will collect anywhere even on a fan on the floor it's fucking dust
But that bad boy looks ready to go as long as you let it consolidate like what the rest of these rad people said. Keep us posted, love to see the yield looks way better than my first one
Sending positive shroom vibes your way !!

Keep us updated with pics. I think the fan is a good idea, and for the kicking up dust thing, many ppl use fans to help with FAE using monos. Just don't point it at the floor if you're worried. I would nail the fan to a corner of the room near the ceiling and point it to the adjacent corner without pointing it towards the floor.

I use a small, cheap hepa filter on the floor pointed up in front of my monos in the closet, running 24/7

Well, I was planning on having the fan on a bar stool that's about 3 1/2 feet off the ground and point it up. I was also planning on spraying Lysol before opening the tub to fan... But letting the spray settle before. Also, for harvesting, do you twist and pick or cut the shrooms off? I've read both, but I think I remember reading that if you get a sharp sterile scalpel (or something similar) you can just cut it off close to the bottom to not disturb the mycelium around the shroom. Thoughts?

Fans are fine for fruiting. They help provide FAE. The polyfil in your holes during fruiting isn't stopping any contaminants as it's way too loose. If the polyfil were tight in the holes like a grain jar, then yes, it'd stop contams, but it's not. No reason to lysol or be clean about fanning your tubs & I bet you won't have to w/ a fan going. I use a small desk fan on high pointed at my tubs 24/7. No contams, no problems & everything is in my basement (where the dog likes to have his accidents) & the fan is only 22" off the ground.
Twisting & pulling will damage the mycelium network. Use a sharp pair of scissors or knife or scalpel & cut as close to the surface of the substrate as possible. The stumps will NOT rot.

Sounds good to me man. Thanks for the help, you're tek worked perfectly! And just to clarify, the fan is pointed at the tub? This won't dry out your sub?

Nope. It's all about the polyfil density/tightness.

You wan the substrate to dry out a bit. The number one pinning trigger is evaporating moisture from the surface of the substrate.

Alright... So, Polyfil just enough so its almost falling out and fan pointed at the tub. And I know you said I shouldn't have to fan manually with the fan going, but do you think I should to be on the safe side? I mean as long as your sub isn't drying out, it would seem like you can't fan too much...

You can fan too much. If you fan too much, you'll hurt your RH. Watch your mushrooms. They'll tell you whether or not you need to fan more. As for RH, get a hygrometer.
