I think its a great idea, but it will take some planning and work to really make it significantly better and different than a lot of the lists out there already IMO. Organization, and accurate, current info are important.
Do you plan on compiling it here in this thread or making it a Document. The latter seems more appropriate but only after its been left here for people to openly look at, and make suggestions/contributions.

The genus Weraroa should be excluded, it is a polyphyletic group who's species were lumped together because of the secotioid form of the fruitbodies, genetic studies have shown that they belong to a few different genera, the species Weraroa novae-zelandiae has been shown to be the only species in this group that belongs in the genus Psilocybe and the accepted combination now is Psilocybe weraroa, it is endemic to New Zealand.

What were the other species in Weraroa and were they active as well or unrelated other than being sectoid?

I have a special spot with some picturesque little cyans, I'd love to have a few pics in this thread.

we might need thumb nails just to make it easier to view the entire list. Love the pictures BTW.

This is a really great thread. I love the ideas, temperature and humidity are key and I am always guessing. Thanks and Good Luck!

Conocybe cyanopoda? Psilocybe mutans. Not sure if this one should count.
I have more, but can't really find any info stating if they are active or not.

We should figure out a way to organize the psilocybes so the list is easier to deal with. I like how you submitted yours by sect Bfogg.

It seemed easier to list them in sections, especially since the info I have is all grouped together in sections. I'll go over a few different species in a little while to see if anything got left out, as I'm sure there are many more active species not listed here. Are you gonna include descriptions and monographs for the known species bloodworm?

i think once we get all the species together we should all decide on a way to organize the list. i think it will be a lot easier once we have them all laid out in front of us categorically.
i think we should share whatever information we possibly can. i think we should keep it short, clean and organized but i think some descriptions and monographs are necessary.
once we get all the actives together, ill start organizing the list and put it up. then we can rework it and go from there... i think right now the goal should be getting a complete and accurate list.
thanks for everyone's enthusiasm!! i can't wait to see how this turns out!

jsut wanted to let everyone know that i haven't forgot about this. i am working on it here and there. my work schedule is changing in 2 weeks and i will have a lot of time to dedicate to the important stuff. i just had to put this on the back burner for a minute, but i have been conjuring up some ideas...
anyone else with any ideas...please feel free to share.
also...anyone with pictures to share...please do so. i think we should have a vote on pictures to decide which ones we want to include...what does everyone else think?
hopefully i can get the list compiled tomorrow.
super excited to take on this project!!

i am, slowly. hunting, microscopy, work, the GMS and this.
i'll get a list together eventually...then it's just a matter of researching descriptions and adding users pictures of said mushrooms. how about this?? every suggestion someone makes must be accompanied by a picture? that's it i think.
like... i could nominate Olive's infamous cube pic as the picture for psilocybe cubensis... we then accompany that with a description, habitat, microscopy, etc....
just some ideas?
what does everyone think?

This is an amazing project. I am having a tough time though seeing this as a single thread. It really deserves its own devoted website or something. I really like the idea you just laid out though, bloodworm. Perhaps even include multiple photos (3-4) in multiple stages of development; particularly useful for several species.

yes... excellent idea. the person who submits the picture should also provide the description.
then we can just lay it out in power point or as a pdf...
