Hunting in Holland
    #1610784 - 06/05/03 06:59 AM (20 years, 8 months ago)

Say, does anyone have experience hunting for psychoactive shrooms in Holland? I know Ps. Semilanceata should be fairly common here, and I suspect Ps. Montana can be found in the more sandy regions, but I have no experience myself hunting for psychoactives here. Spoke to a FOAF once who did a successful hunt, but that's really the only time I heard of someone hunting here in Holland.

Any tips, suggestions? Also, does anyone know what species can actually be found here?

You guys can buy them over the counter!! I kn ow that nothing beats the hunt but you guys are totally blessed with liberal laws so make the most of it, I've found semilanceata just over the border in Germany so that's probably your best bet - or cyanencens in pine plantations or mulched gardens, you'll have to wait for autumn though.
Good Luck
Jim

Psilocybe montana is not a psychoactive Psilocybe

Both P. cyanescens and P. semilanceata as well as P. liniformans are all common in Holland from late August until the freeze.

The liberty caps (P. semilanceata) grow in tall rank grass in manured fields but not directly from manure.

Both P. cyanescens and P. liniformans can be found in muclched gardens in parks, arond office buildings, new condos, restarants with gardens around them, botanical gardens, punblic parks and around rich peoles homes in subburban areas.

Psilocybe montana is not a psychoactive shroom.

You're absolutely right ofcourse, Reverend_Jim_Jones, we _are_ blessed with some liberal laws (or better: the absence of certain laws), at least, for the moment. But I prefer growing/hunting myself, it's jsut so much more fun

Mj, thanks for your post, I'm surprised to hear cyanescens actually grows here. I knew that the climate was fit for them, but I didn't know it was actually native.

Guess I'll wait a bit till autumn and pack my bag and guides then!

Hey koraks,

You can pick liberty caps in almost every part of holland, i've found them in the utmost southern part (limburg) all the way up to friesland. I have never found cyanescens though , they are quite rare but perhaps you have more luck.

My best finds have been on moist fields with sandy soil around oktober.

best of luck
