Any P. Cubensis in North Dallas (plano, the colony) Area?
    #1616938 - 06/07/03 06:15 PM (13 years, 10 months ago)

Hello,
I'm new to the forums, and just recently moved to DFW area.
Has anyone found any active shrooms growing around here.
I've been waiting to hunt Cubensis for years and just now am going to get the chance. I heard they do grow here, but not real sure.
Thanks.

Welcome to the Shoomery!

Please check out our FAQ and sticky posts on the top of the forum.

I personally am not from that area, however I do know that cubensis can be found in Texas. This is the time of year that they will be growing as well. You will want to start scoping out some cow pastures. Make sure you have permission before you enter them as they are usually private property.

Thanks Angry,
I know of many pastures around here, and have had the chance to look a bit
but to me it all seems like a myth.
I've been shroom hunting many times in other places, places to dry for Cubensis.
Tons of cow shit, lots of shrooms, none active.
But twice in DFW, in perfect conditions, no less.
But what are the chances at even the best times, like 5% or less?

And oh yeah,
I've heard the cattle have to be grain fed. Aren't most cattle grass fed for most of their lives?

Hey, Thanks guys,
I really needed to hear that from someone who doesn't only cultivate and has been there. Now I have more hope.

howdy Jfrio welcome to the shroomery. i live near san antonio and they grow here. that far north your chances start to diminish. although i have heard reports that they can be found in dallas. the farther you are from the gulf the less you will see them. so how do you like texas? peace

you mean DFW shrooms eh? well i dont know. may people on here are from texas. i know a friend whos on the shroomery that lives near Austin, who finds cubes and cop cyans.

im sorry i didnt know you were saying the dallas shrooms may be a myth. i would say that you have a chance of finding a few, although they probably do not grow there consistenly. if you look HARD enough i am sure you will find some. i am also fairly confident that there may be a few fields with significant frutings for one fruiting period of the year (about 2-3 weeks or so). i suggest driving towards Waco a bit and im sure if you hit the fields after a good rain and search for a day or so, you are bound to come up with some.

dallas shroomerites help this{wo)man out.

Okay, yeah I didn't believe they would grow abundantly this far north.
I'll try heading towards Waco, but who knows. I'll check up here first.
Hey, c'mon is anybody from DFW having any luck this year?

lol Waco??  nah- I go to TSTC in that area......  not too much luck for cubes over there from my experience,  But last summer in the middle of June I did find a patch of Pan. Subbs-  not much at all but just enough for 1 trip!

Dallas is too far north-  Even though I have seen a post on here of cube findings as farr north as Oklahoma- but if they were legit- who knows?
