I've looked around for a Ph meter but can't seem to find one. Can any one tell me where to find one or a reciepe that could give me the alkalinity that I need? Thanks

you can use turnusoll paper... there are ones with colors on them and a chart that shows which colors show which Ph level... I guess you can find them from health stores...

I looked at both of those places. At what point is too high? I was under the impression that 9-10 was good.

6.5-8 is perfect according to TMC, but you can skip all this hassle and use the 60/40 verm and coco coir tek-much better than any other casing layer. holds more moisture and is still very fluffy and colonizes very quickly. Jake H

Hey Jake, doesn't the verm+coir tek call for lime? I did the 50/50 tek you recommended to me when I first got here and I checked the pH. It was a little acidic (~6-6.5 I beleive). I added a cup of oyster shell (bandini brand) to the coir+verm mix and checked again and was able to get it just above nuetral ~7.5
