Hunt for the Wilderpeople was the biggest surprise of the year for me.
Didn't know much about it going in and it was just a really great time.
It was such a good all round film that anyone can enjoy, you don't see many of them these days.

Trolls 8/10

I expected this movie to be a commercial pop shit show, but it was actually very entertaining and quite trippy.

Paranoid Park(2007)

I was a little shaky on it at first but i came to really like it.  Lead Gabe Nevin's acting debut, he does an admirable job portraying a teen who tries to maintain an indifferent attitude while dealing with a serious issue on the inside.  His narration is woefully poor, but the acting bits come across as genuine confused teen reaction.  It's a very egocentric film that focuses dominantly on the lead, so one is'nt to expect drastic character development.  A fault perhaps, but donning the flippant attitude ov the protagonist, it's whatev.  Atmospherics are superb and strongly emphasize critical moments.  It has that low budget, gritty early Van Sant/Araki feel i like, coupled with the easy going board-life until life smacks ya dab in the face happenstance ov Big Wednesday.  All the better that he's not a very good skateboarder and is just soaking up the identity.  Okay, i'll rate it: 7.17/10.  I'd rate it worse as it is rather shallow but, like, i kind ov feel it in remembrance ov the time, ya know?  It's no My Own Private Idaho or deep, meaningful story, but it is a decent introverted teen film.  Soundtrack was all over the place; served well.

Lights Out - 7.7/10

I enjoyed this movie, I wish there was more development regarding the Diana character though, but I really enjoyed how spooky she was made to be, and the way her eyes shone in the darkness was really cool, overall an interesting story which plays on mankind's fear of the darkness.

Nineteen eighty eight

It's pretty hard to put all of this book in a 2 hour movie. But they did an OK job.

Not sure if it's a 6.5 or a 7/10

Jason Bourne 6/10

Matt Damon has 26 lines in the movie... the other annoying thing for me was the car sounds. Kinda unrealistic, where every single car, truck, or van only operates at wide open throttle.

It became predictable, there are a few key moments in the movie that tried to be subtle, and just smacked you with what was really happening. I'd agree with the 6/10 rating.

Dope was fucking terrible.  I saw it had good reviews and it looked nice and colourful...  The best part was the main guy dancing in the credits when it ended.
