I drink your blood was the first hippy movie after manson, before him all cinematic depictions were sex/drugs/peace. This movie started the hippiesploitation genre

Thanks for suggestion, knew a bit of the subject matter already, but had a lot of new to me interviews and footage, bonus for the tripping eye candy. :mushroom2:

I've read some of his book (of the same name), and yeah, I absolutely definitely will watch the series at some point.

I'm looking forward to it.

The Witch 9/10

This was really good, not sure how I missed it before. Believable acting in a cool setting. Didn’t understand it all the way through so will probably have to watch it again sometime.

The World's End (2013)
9/10

I love almost all the films I have seen that have Simon Pegg in them, except for Hot Fuzz, which I've tried to watch twice, which is weird because most people love this movie.  I guess I need to try it again.  Anyways, this movie way great. There is a pivotal, Dusk Til Dawn type moment where to movie flips the script and goes all Doctor Who.  There were a lot of laugh out loud moments for me.  And this is a great movie to drink along with.

I'm forced to say a few words. HOW did you enjoy At World's End and not Hot Fuzz?!

Everything seemed off in the former. I mean Nick Frost trying to play a conventional no nonsense type of character was difficult, and Pegg was just too over the top imo. And the supporting cast basically had no soul, not when you compare it to Hot Fuzz. We are different you and I.

Hot Fuzz is one of the best if not the best comedy of the 21st century. Great concept where Pegg who is gravely serious about his police man officer career gets transferred to "the country" because he was too productive in the metro. He immediately arrests Frost who turns out to be his partner on the job. You know how it goes with the villagers and their scheme. Timothy Dalton is hilarious along with his inbred bouncer and sexy dancer assistant. It is simply a great movie that I've probably seen 50 times (ha ha).

Yeah, I plan on a re-watch soon.  Everyone I know has the same reaction.  Perhaps my head wasn't in the right place at the time of the first 2 attempts? IDK, my tastes are pretty weird anyway

I suppose it's not for everyone. The policing context, the small town rural life context. But its surprising to hear someone say they are a fan of Pegg but not Hot Fuzz and instead The World's End. I can get over it.

Lightyear. 10/10.

This movie was super nostalgic for me. I cried a few times. I cried at the very beginning when they brought up...

It was sad, but beautiful.

Hot Fuzz (2007)
10/10

Ok, so I have finally seen this film in it's entirety and I must say it is a much better film than The World's End and would even say that it is funnier then Shaun of the Dead.  The supporting cast in this film was much better as well.  I think part of the comedy in The World's End was that Nick Frost's character was such a straight-edge dude.  Again, I tried to watch this a couple of times 13+ years ago and couldn't get into it, but there was a lot of crazy shite going on in my life then so there is no telling what the circumstances were when I was trying to watch it.  I must also point out that I not that all in touch with the pulse of the world on the credibility and coolness of movies.  I don't even hear about most of them when they come out.  I have been "dumpster diving" for so long in the bin of movies past to find B-movie gold that I don't know where it's at anymore.  For example, I think I am the only person I know of the enjoyed The Last Jedi...

The Girl Can't Help It (1956)
4/10

Except for the curvaceous leading lady and the musical performances in this film, it was a snoozefest.  Jane's acting was not that great, which I guess I expected due to her being such eye candy.  By the way, Little Richard is the greatest and the True King of Rock and Roll...or Queen..?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Girl_Can%27t_Help_It

Lady Iron Monkey (1979)
6/10

A fairly entertaining flick that holds most of it's martial arts content til the very end.  It's quirky with a lot of heart, in the same vein as Stephen Chow's Shaolin Soccer.  The dubbing and editing are awful which I alwaus find to be an extra delight.  There is a song that plays over and over throughout the film that has someone whistling that Beck and The Dust Brothers sampled and used on the intro for the track Sissyneck from the album Odelay.

Here is a review for the film someone made at Amazon:

You’ve heard of “so bad its good” what about “so bad its terrifying.” Watching this film is a deeply disorienting experience. The dubbing and sound create a horrifying onslaught of cartoonish screeching and mumbling accompanied by what sounds like a blend of German techno pop and traditional Chinese music. There is a dwarf who sounds like a Dalek with a cockney accent and an obese person who sounds like their voice has been slowed down. Everyone is constantly in a state of panicked slapstick frenzy and the camera zooms in an out at random and unexpected, moments. I think watching this film on a full size screen in a movie theater could possibly be fatal. Sandwiched between the insanity are some excellent fight scenes, most of which feature a woman who appears to be half monkey? There’s quite a lot of entertainment to be had if you can bare it.

Being There (1979)
8/10

This is a very unique film.  The plot is slightly far-fetched but could possibly happen in real life, and, for all we know, could have happened multiple times in the past and could be happening somewhere in the world right now.  I would love to watch this with a group of millenials and watch them squirm and beg for it to be turned off because they would find it absolutely boring.  (writing this idea down on To-Do List)  I recommended this movie to my mom, who is a huge Peter Sellers fan and she HATED it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Being_There

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012)
9/10

This turned out to be a completely different movie than I thought it was going to be.  It turned out to be a great romantic chick-flick type movie.  I am not the biggest fan of Steve Carell, but his performance in this is fantastic, dynamically changing from to gloomed-out sap to fully enlightened individual.  This did tug on my heart strings some.
And I'm a sucker for films with an unhappy ending.
