It was shitty? I couldn’t make sense of your comment but I’m genuinely curious about this movie in particular.

was it good? im thinking about watching it
i just watched RESIDENT EVIL: Return To Raccoon City
5/10
cool visuals and gave us all of the classic characters in this one. set design rocked. they made Leon Kennedy a pussy tho. Donal Logue was in this one and that made it fun.
when are they ever going to add the puzzle elements from the games to the movies??

Don’t look up sucked ass.
I was conned into watching it over Christmas and just, wow. Fuck that movie.

Infinite Potential: The Life and Ideas of David Bohm DIRECTOR'S CUT 10/10
Good biopic of David Bohm, which is mostly biographical but also goes into considerable description of some of his scientific and philosophical ideas. If you're interested in this sort of thing, check out my book Unfolding Nature: Being in the Implicate Order. That goes into the relevant subject matter in much greater detail than the film.

I've started watching the Harry Potter movies. The wife begged me to watch them & we just finished the first three movies. I see why so many people loved them. If the movies came out when I was younger I would've loved them. In 2001 I was in high school too busy for "kiddie adventures" & was too busy smoking pot all the time.
Not particularly looking forward to the remaining 5 movies but sure they will be as entertaining as the first three. Heard they get much darker as well which sounds good to me.

Cold Skin (2017) 9/10
Surprisingly good! Definitely had a The Lighthouse feel to the whole movie but unique as well, or should I say this movie inspired The Lighthouse. I enjoyed all the variety of moods/themes/events in the movie. Great acting and special effects. And best part, its free on YouTube!

The Stabalizer (1986) 9/10

Holy cow, this movie! If entertaining garbage like Samurai Cop, Parole Violators or Ninja Terminator are your cup of tea, then this is right up your alley. I usually don't get squeamish, but there were 2 scenes I had to turn away from and laff at at the same time (lizard eating dude, and tonque cutter). Greg Rainmaker is such a funny, cheezie doosh. Explosions a-plenty, dangerous stuntwork, hilariously bad dubbing/dialog and brought to us by Troma Distribution.
Here are some images I found online of scenes in the movie, but I couldn't find an image of my favorite shot in the film, the one of the asian chick holding a machine gun pointed straight up with the other hand on her hip, with bare feet in an elegant evening gown.

The Long Good Friday 8.5/10
A small but very enjoyable English gangster movie that I watched several times previously, but not since the 80's. Bob Hoskins was excellent as the crime boss and Helen Mirren was a looker.

It's definitely NOT a christmas movie, it's full of existential dread and it reminds me of the current climate crisis, but IMHO a solid 8/10, slow at times but Jennifer Lawrence is hot, so there's that.

Kodachrome 9/10
Netflix labelled it as a "Comedies", well that was quite wrong. There is some deadpan, dark comedy sprinkled thru the movie but its definitely a Drama first and foremost. A really well done Drama. Really sad movie but the ending has some great closure. A real tear-jerker with plently of heart-felt moments to enjoy.

At the end of Fury. 9/10. Great movie. I love how they turn the tables at one point in the movie by having the audience sympathize with both US soldiers and German civilians.

Dune (2021) 9/10
Now, I did not know this going in, but this movie only covers about the first third of the book. Presumably that means they were planning a trilogy all along. I hope this one was profitable enough to facilitate that, because I want to see more.
Denis Villeneuve is one of the most excellent directors working today -- he did movies like Arrival, Sicario, Prisoners, Blade Runner 2049 -- and his vision for Dune would, I think, have made Frank Herbert quite pleased. On the other hand, it is said that Herbert very much liked David Lynch's version, and the two are indeed very different.
Either way, it's a grand adventure with no outstanding flaws that I can see. It is also, since they are doing two or three of them, paced in such a way that it can be more faithful to the book, which is a good thing. For a book that is almost impossible to film properly, Villeneuve's vision is very close to the mark.

Wow. What a fantastic movie. Sad, but fantastic. Based on true events of the Granite Mountain Hotshots.

The Fisher King (1991) 9/10

This was my first time to watch the entire thing. I tried to watch it when it first came out on cable TV, but I was too drunk to keep it together. I guess I have also put off trying to watch it again because that first time I tried to watch it was with my friend John and that is one of the last memories I have of him before he committed suicide. This is really a fantastic film. I am such a fan of Terry Gilliam's work and this did not disappoint. I had many laugh out loud moments. There is an underlying message in this film that conveys that sanity is subjective.

Mandy (2018) 9/10

I love it when I watch a movie that is unlike any movie I have seen before, be it a great piece of cinematic art or an abomination I will never watch again. This was fantastic - visually stunning and with psychedelic effects similar to Enter The Void but that go even beyond that, visual metaphors perhaps. Cage is amazing in it, as only he can be, Cage rage hellbent for revenge. When I was watching it during the beginning, I thought to myself, "This would be great to trip to", but as the movie went on and displayed the depravity that some humans can sink to, I thought that this wouldn't be a good idea, especially with some of the brutally violent scenes. As it was ending, I thought to myself, "Yeah, this is a great and unique movie, but unless I was showing it to someone who has never seen it before, I don't see myself watching it again". Well, since watching it, I do want to watch it again and have been thinking about the movie a lot since then.
