Dogma (1999)
9/10

This film just gets better every time I watch it.  The many deep conversations that take place almost give the movie a very Tarantino-esque dynamic.  It is a movie that has it all.  I know that this movie doesn't get a lot of love, but I feel it is Kevin Smith's masterwork.

2 Days in the Valley (1996)
9/10

This is a film I have loved for quite a while.  I believe it was a made-for-cable movie.  This is another film that doesn't get a lot of love and is indeed heavily influenced by Tarantino, who was all the rage at this time.  This is the first movie I saw Charlize Theron in and it is definitely when she was at her hottest.

Unrepeatable (1994)
9/10

A great stand-up movie from one of my favorite comedians.  This is the earliest stand-up I have seen of his, in fact, 5 years before he did Dressed To Kill which propelled him into fame here in The States.  A very funny movie.

Vice- 6/10.  It was good but it could’ve been a lot better. They might’ve needed some more time.

The Hawks and the Sparrows(1966)- 7.5/10
Uccellacci e Uccellini

Hmmm. A politico-religious satire from good ol' Pasolini. We have a father and son who meet a talking raven, who is described as a left wing intellectual, while walking along a road. The raven joins them in their journey and tells a story, which is played by the father and son. As we're transported to the 8th century(IIRC), the story involves a monk who spends a year in meditation to learn how to communicate with hawks in order to convert them to Christianity. Then he spends over a year to do the same to the sparrows, communicating with them through hopping. He witnesses a hawk kill a sparrow and feels as though he failed. They return to the saint who sent them on the mission, who subsequently sends them on another mission. The film returns to 'modern' times as the 2 continue on their journey with the talking Marxist raven. They encounter others, including villagers who scold them for pooping in the village. After whipping some ov them with his belt, other villagers shoot at them as them run off. Some other encounters with peasants, bourgeoisie, and a beautiful girl they both presumably fuck. Hungry, the man decides to kill and eat the talking raven along with his simpleton son.
Well, Pasolini! The symbolism ov Jodorowsky and the subversive silliness ov Kusturica in a much rougher, minimalistic B&W Italian film. Funny and silly satire but a bit propagandistic for my taste. Soundtrack by the legendary Ennio Morricone.

Been a while since I have watched a movie

Suicide Squad
My rating: 0/10

Absolutely horrible, the movie didn't make sense, the acting was weak, the cuts to the joker scenes were just that, scenes, and apparently all they had to do the entire time was plant a bomb

I was pretty lit going into the movie so I figured I would enjoy it anyway

Biggest buzzkill ever. I legit want those..what was it, 87 minutes...of my life back. The movie felt like it was three hours long with how bad it was.

Hands down out of all the movies I have seen, which is quite a few, it's either this or that Hulk movie that came out in the early 2000s that was also pretty bad. One of them deserves the 0/10

I suppose suicide squad deserves +1 for costumes and makeup

The Valachi Papers(1972)- 7.0/10

I liked it, I did. It's a good story that opened the public's eyes to the inner workings ov la cosa nostra. I liked the headiness ov it and seeming factuality ov SOME aspects ov mobdom. I enjoy these kinds ov films but I also understand that it's not going to stand up well to the nearly unavoidable comparison to 'The Godfather' ov the same year, despite the two films being quite different in how they portray the subject matter. In its own right, however, it's a good film with three problems that downplay its potential IMO. One, it covers too much for it to go truly in depth into either the characters or the subject matter. Two, I do'nt think that Terrence Young ov early Bond movie fame did a very good job directing it; it seemed too hastily done. And three, the casting ov Charles Bronson. Do'nt get me wrong now, I really like ol' Charlie and actually think he did well here. He would have been very well cast if he were'nt playing an Italian American, which he is not convincing at all ov being, or having to look the part over a span ov the 30 years this film stretches his character. But enough bitching. It's a good enough film that blends the older gangland shoot-em-up style with the more esoteric interplay ov 'that life', if not being especially proficient in really displaying either.

Modesty Blaise (1966)
7/10

1960s swinging London Italian style.  This film seems to be proper fodder for the Austin Powers franchise.  Lots of pop-style psychedelia all over the walls, ever-changing hairstyles and random musical numbers.  Just when you realize you are getting bored a complete WTF moment happens.  This would be a great film to watch with friends whilst under the influence.

Jumaji: Welcome to the Jungle
pretty much what I expected, Jack Black was the highlight but aside from a decent adult cast, pretty mediocre 5.5/10 (and 3 of those are for Jack Black)

The Arena (1989)
5/10

Imagine MMA in space.  This movie was directed by the same guy that did Demonic Toys and Dungeonmaster which helps explain the Roger Corman meets Full Moon Pictures feel of the film.  The creature costumes are great and stick around for Jade's song & dance number.  This movie is slightly entertaining but is completely ridiculous.
