Hot Shots!
7.5/10
A little bit lighter fare, to say the least. The last time I saw this was over twenty-five years ago, and it's still funny.

The Boy on Netflix I think is called. About a really fucked up looking doll. It is the first time I have yelled out and jumped in a movie since a very long time as scare very little.
Surprised me. But creepy looking dolls creep the shit out of me since I was a kid. And with a soundbar and this slow build up as it has this creeping music building up to the doll slowly, zooming into it, then it jerks its head fastly to the right. It is never what you think so I don't take that as a spoiler. God the tension. Has a twist ending that is really well done.

The Killing Of A Sacred Deer
it's basically...well, with movies like this, technically, i know there is a gorgosity of film that makes parlance with most filmic types, sometimes they hit the radar, usually quite so prepped too, eventually...outside the rounds of smaller circles...i don't roll in those circles, but i do know a good film when i see it...not only does this make it obvious, but it it is distinctly Kubrickean, and it's an auteurship that is not usually seen in most popular cinema these days.

Detroit 2017 - 8/10 with 5 being average
I think it gave a pretty balanced take on the Algiers motel incident. The exposition at the beginning was alright but I wish the background had live action footage instead of art, it would have been more consistent with the rest of the film.

LOVE HOT SHOTS!!! The scene in Part Deux where hes shooting in the dingie and buries himself in the bullet shells love it lol..
Just watch Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
1/10. Writing.. god awful. Serious moments give way to one-off gag jokes. Absolutely no sense... storytelling 0/10. Maybe .5/10. I almost couldn't finish it. The actor who plays Kylo Ren is so unbearable.. mark hamill himself said he hated the character was treated and I see why.
Worst movie I've seen in a decade or so.

There Will Be Blood
10/10
Been looking at some P.T. Anderson lately, as one can see above. I think he is one of the finest filmmakers working today, and I also think that somewhat often he approaches, if not meets, the level of a Kubrick or a Coppola. A very great talent.

Breaker Morant(1980)- 8/10
Australian soldiers fighting for the British during the Boer war are court martialed for use as a scapegoat. Quite realistic and believable portrayal ov the underpinnings ov the war machine with timeless allusions. Very good acting and littered with quotables.
Jubilee(1978)-10/10
Derek Jarman=10/10

I always thought the ending of Breaker Morant was a ripoff of Paths of Glory.

2 movies I'd highly recommend that I just watched.
Waking Life (2001): 10/10
The Man from Earth (2007): 9/10
Both fantastic movies that contain a huge dose of knowledge drawn on from various academic disciplines. Waking life is actually a great one to watch on mushrooms due to it being rotoscoped and containing awesomly complex philosophical discussions.
A Man from Earth left me in a huge mind fuck and questioning just what might be possible out there. Check 'em out folks, you won't be disappointed.

Got tired of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas going off a premium service. Have watched it over a hundred times in my life and with Gilliam's brilliance and sense of humor, he of course did Monty Python and the Holy Grail, I always find something new in it. So I finally just bought it to stream.
Only watch it when I get fucked up which is quite a bit. It is therapy in a way. The freedom of that time period compared to the fear and paranoia now. And how law enforcement and government is. It's a release to watch it.
If you did the shit they did in that movie now you wouldn't last more than a couple of days without being arrested and major negative consequences.

Interesting stuff, Aronofsky lost me a little about 3/4 of the way through, then picked me back up in the final five minutes. Unique, well directed, well acted, definitely a movie you'll either love or hate. akira pointed out the feminist aspects, though I felt they were not dogmatic, more eliciting sympathy, and I really had no problem with that element. Good arty movie, it will be fun to watch it again knowing the ending.
And I can't wait for the sequel
