Watched Citizen Kane the other day, and didn't like it. I read it was supposed to be the "greatest American film". 5/10

Gomorrah (2008) - 7.5/10
Organized crime in Naples. Warring clans and toxic waste dumping. Told from perspective of many people, was a little hard to follow and catch names at times, movie is in Italian. Went back and read an overview afterwards, decided I actually liked the movie more than my initial impression.

IT (2017) - 6/10 Lots of loud sound effects and cheap jump scares.
Skarsgard clown aped off Curry at times, at other times too over the top and cringey. The kids did a great job.

Baby Driver (2017) - 8/10
Worth a watch, pretty well done and kept my interest. Little under 2 hours but it was over before I knew it.
Use of music is cool. Had a Boards of Canada song in it.

I've always heard good things about this movie and finally got around to watching it. I wasn't disappointed! Very 80's, but not over-the-top goofy at the same time. Cool setting and premise (I can't help but to think it was somewhat inspired by Invasion of the Body Snatchers).
It's actually a remake of a 50's movie, which I've never seen. Gonna do that ASAP. Same basic story, alien craft and body dug up from the ice. Only it's the Arctic.

Dunkirk (2017) - 7/10
OK film but without many (any?) real character arcs, it's mostly random people riding in boats getting bombed and shot at for 1.5 hours. Still a neat story from history.

It's a remake yeah but it's also supposed to be the truer adaptation of the source material.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) - 9/10
One of the few silent ones I've seen, I watched the newest restoration. The painted backdrops give it a trippy look. I liked the story and twist.
The Asphalt Jungle (1950) - 10/10
First one in my noir marathon. A jewel heist gone wrong. I liked all the various crooked people, and their interactions. This is supposed to be innovative for the time, how the criminals are almost portrayed like "normal" people doing a job. Marilyn Monroe has a minor role, and she's fine like a mf. They used vernacular such as "dame" and "heater". One of the best crime flicks I've seen!

Out of the Past (1947) - 9/10
Noir #2. I liked Asphalt Jungle a little more, with the career criminals and "one last job" story -- but this one's great. It's about a guy’s past (grimey people) catching up with him. The true antagonist is revealed with time. It's real dramatic and stylish. I didn't totally like the ending at first, but it might be growing on me?

Blade Runner 2049 (2017) - 8/10
Lord of the Rings long, but I was engrossed enough in the whole atmosphere that it went quick. CG was good. Was looking forward to the score... it was eh. Human Revolution was a cooler cyberpunk soundtrack.

Death Rides a Horse (1967) - 9/10
Watching some spaghetti westerns from Tarantino's Top 20. Story equal to (or better) than some of the Dollars films. Score by Morricone. People who've seen Kill Bill might recognize the theme song. It has a 40% tomato score and Ebert didn't like it. I had lots of fun watching.

6/10 sounds about right. Perhaps a little generous even. Fuck this Rian Johnson guy!
I really thought Luke went to that island seeking some ancient force knowledge or something. Nope he went there to cry and hide.

It’s A Wonderful Life (1946) - 10/10
If you ever get the chance to see this one on a big screen, do it. They do it during Xmas. A beautiful film! Had to run out and tell them to turn up the volume. Some of these older movies...

Sabrina (1954) - 8/10
This isn't among the "most known" movies of Humphrey Bogart or Audrey Hepburn, I don't think. But it's made by Billy Wilder (Double Indemnity, Sunset Boulevard) so I was curious. It was alright, you can still catch it in certain theaters on the 10th.

Pretty damn good. I like the direction of the movie. Its more psychedelic/introspective. Some of the events were unrealistic compared to previous Star Wars, but I think it was a pretty awesome movie overall. Already seen it twice. Luke FTW.
It would seem that you are now my enemy.

Sunset Boulevard (1950) - 9/10
Really like this one, I get why David Lynch is fond of it. Has this creepy and ominous atmosphere to it. Sound design was on point. You can catch it on a big screen again the 21st and then it’s coming back a couple months later.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Last Jedi (2017) - 7/10
I was so fucking pissed at this movie the first time I saw it. I'm now willing to accept some of the decisions they made, even "fucking up" Luke Skywalker as I originally had felt. It's a slightly above average movie to me, that has it's moments.
It's still the only major Star Wars movie to not have an actual lightsaber battle, this is a minus. One plus perhaps worth mentioning, they present the allure and seduction of the dark side in a way not shown in other Star Wars movies. I guess.
