'The Presence'

0/10. Seriously the worst movie I've ever seen. It was so bad it became a comedy. So bad it was awesome. We laughed hysterically. I mean I've seen 'The Room' and this was worse than that.

Taxi Driver: 10/10

I had seen it before, but felt I needed to watch it again. It was worth it

I didnt "get" that movie. I heard great things about it and was expecting to be amazed. Maybe I was too stoned?

I love Taxi Driver. Those opening scenes with all the street lights superimposed onto him while driving... down to just the way the film seems to be exposed. The color saturation... it's just awesome. Visually it's perfect. The story is a little strange but very engaging and interesting, to me. I'd give it a 10/10 also - one of my favorites. I think being stoned while watching it is a good thing.

Stargate (1994)

Now apparently critics ripped this movie apart and a lot of people think it sucks. They say the plot is thin and the acting is bad and the costumes are stupid and the action scenes ruin it.

That wasn’t my experience at all. I was pretty high but I got sucked into this one. The idea of the Stargate and wormhole interstellar travel and the whole break off human society living in another galaxy is a really cool premise. The awe of exploring the new world and learning to communicate with them and uncovering the mystery of the Stargate, I thought it was really cool. Not sure why this movie got so much hate. I found this more entertaining than a lot of movies.

People also say the tv series is/are better. I can’t comment on that except that I once watched 10 minutes of an episode of one of those shows and it felt like a really cheesy sci-fi series, which is what it is. It was like Star Trek or something. I get that that’s kind of what the sci fi series are all about - it’s kind of camp, kind of self aware quirky nerd humor, etc. That’s cool but not really my bag. I dont like my bad films to be too self aware. The movie felt like a movie. And while it had some cheesy elements such as the alien camel creature and the effeminate Ra, overall I thought it was well done and captured a feeling of wonder with the new world. But again I was pretty high.

One thing I want to point out though is how much better of a job Kubric did portraying wormhole travel in 1969 than these guys could do with computers in 1994

I watched a couple horror movies for Halloween too:

Hellraiser
8/10
WOW! What a fucked up horror movie. I thought this was going to be cheesy based on the pinhead character on the cover. This is one of the scariest movies I think I've ever seen. Truly brutal and kind of sickening really. This is a sick, disgusting universe they created. I got sucked into this. I highly recommend it if you like horror and haven't seen it.

Hereditary
8/10
As far as horror movies go, this ranks up there, there are no jump scares in this movie, it's all eerie drawn-out visions reminiscent in a way of Kubricks The Shining but much more intense, and with Exorcist and Rosemary's Baby vibes. Great story, unexpected ending, and a really fresh and original take on the idea of demonic possession.

Midsommar
8/10
I think this was either the same director or same production company that did Hereditary. Also an awesome very original horror movie, with a similar eerie vibe to that of Hereditary, but very different. I will be following the production company associated with this one and Hereditary because I think they put out the two best horror movies in years.

2nd time seeing this, the last time being at least 4 years ago.
Great movie. So Tarantino.
I give tens very freely so this doesn't mean it's one of the best movies ever

Edit: why can't all movies be this great...

Excellent movie and one of Tarantino’s best

I just caught Jackie brown the other day, been a while since I’ve seen that one. I love that movie too. Samuel L Jackson looks like the crypt keeper with his hair straightened. Robert deniro is great when he bangs the blonde girl and then shoots her out of annoyance.

Tarantino gangster movies are so unrealistic but it’s kind of it’s own universe, I love it.

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot 5/10

There were a few decent laughs, but it was mainly just a series of callbacks and some half-assed attempts at some feels. It was basically Kevin Smith jumping the View Askewniverse shark, as much as it pains me to say it.

Not surprised, jay and silent bob were never funny in the first place, I never understood the appeal
