Hey Airdog !!! Did you ever find any P. muliericula or any other interesting species ? If your friend lives in Oregon, he has several species to look for, besides the azures. That state sounds like a 'shroom hunters paradise Good luck with the hunting ! ! !
Quote:
......... Oh yes, one more thing, 7 to 10 fresh Copelandia cyanescens can also be more potent than one giant P. azurescens of the same weighyt.. Ask anyone who has eaten them for the first time and tripped...................
Unlike MJ, I have no experience with p cyans or azures, but Copelandia cyanescens can definitely light your ass up. Don't overdo it with those little bastards. I've heard that Ps. weilii is right up there with'em also. Maybe one day I'll find out for myself .

Maybe a quick search or actually reading the FAQ would be helpful... It's no secret, it's probly been asked and answered here about 5000 times.

Well, the picker is back. Oregon coast had little if no security last year. Sence last year's security was down this years will be sure to be EXTREME. Best idea is going to a location in washington in longbeach. But "WE" also have tight security. A mushroom picker's best idea is to just plant an artificial bed in its perfect climate and conditions. Than just going to that spot away from homeland security. I've made a trip to longbeach, and there are no mushrooms growing. As i can see.... I've been to my beds and they are getting ready. Call it a late year this season.

What do you mean low security last year? Seems quite the exact opposite.

Ok, well considering in the news last year they said they were cutting funding to the oregon coast security for other funding purposes. I also tryed going to a remote area this year and there were AT LEAST 10 ranger scoping the area. They dont like to let you know they are watching intell they know you have illegal substance on you. My point was this. If you dont wanna risk it at home and going out and risking your ass for some mushrooms that you have to search for (which takes hours of picking). Just plant a bed in a safe place, and when it comes time, pick and dash. No messing around. Thats my point. Your safer buying them from a drug dealer than picking them. Plant your own beds, and there is alot less risk. Be smart.... risk yourself one year, and get spores and plant your own bed. I have a picture by my name. That plus 3 times that amount took me 10 minutes to pick and be out. PLay it smart. Best area's are along the coast of oregon and SW washington..... So, in that mind, thats my point. Also, the season has not started. I SHOULD KNOW. My beds would be ripe if it was.

I've found some azures, posted pics about a week ago. They're out.
As far as starting your own beds, *definately*. Your post sort of implied that you can save yourself trouble by making patches still on the coast, but not in the heavily watched areas. It might be better to do it far from the coast. They might not last more than a few years without the coastal grass, but thats a little work every couple years and none of the dashing you mentioned.
Just a thought.

Where exactly are you referring to when you say the bay area? I usually think of san francisco when I hear that.
They certainly are out to get azure pickers in Astoria. Plenty of arrests last year.
edit: Just looked at your (very cool!) sig. You do seem to be referring to san fran. Azures don't grow down there.

Yes, make your own patches. VERY easy.... And the best time is usually right after halloween. Considering the beach has not had a REAL "first Storm" In ENGLISH a huge rain and alot of coldness.... Finding them in the rain is easier than in the sun. And the only down side to the season is alot of the tourists have left. And its only US out there making it easy for US to get cought. So, just a loving word from ThePicker, get your personal stash and leave it at that and wait intell next year. And clip them, dont PULL them out of the ground. Leaving a nice harvest for next year.
