you recommend any particular trails to backpack?  i'm thinking i'd like to start out on some of the overnight loops.. i've been finding a few websites online devoted to this, but nothing too specific.  i'm coming from swva, so I guess the fastest way to get there for me is to take I-81 and then head to Gatlinburg, and go into the park that way.

Much experience. Which area? It runs quite a long way and through multiple states.

Not too familiar with the middle/southern part of the chain. I just know the northern part.

Hiked pretty close to Boone and Blowing Rock, NC. Really cool in the fall. I recommend it.

Me too! Yeah, Boone is the shit. College ass everywhere, parties galore, and enough drugs to satisfy anybody and then some.
