Short Mushrooms?

Im trying to find out why my current tub is fruiting small mushrooms, first flush were 2-3" fruits with fat bulges in the stems, 2nd flush 1-2" fruits
Im thinking the polyfill was stuffed in my vent holes too thin so there was too much FAE? I don't get the feeling it could be anything else, but is this possible?
Funny an my 2nd tub fruited one MASSIVE shroom then the tub went mouldy

I'm thinking you had regular fruits. Low FAE causes long thin stems.

I've had this happen, though not to the whole tub. I mean the small mushrooms.
I could never figure it out either and chalked it up to genetics. The 2nd flush was usually much better for me.

Edited my OP, the first flush was more like 2-3" max not 3-4", the stems had fat beer belly bulges in them aswell
Maybe im just used to fruiting straight from rye grain rather than spawning to bulk Fruiting straight from rye bags with verm as a casing layer i'd always get nice sized fruits around 4"
but yeah could be genes, my other tub was a different strain, same ventiliation thickness, and got the biggest shroom i have ever seen (bigger than a bic pen) 73g wet

now that i think about it, mine weren't even 2 inches, maybe 1inch for the tallest mini mutant shrooms.
good luck though let me know if you figure something out

what method are you using for your grow?
small mushies, at least imo, come from lack of FAE and/or moisture content issues.
sometimes you can chuck it up to rolling the dice with genetics

There's no such thing as too much fresh air. Mushrooms fruit outdoors in nature.
The most likely causes of small mushrooms are insufficient substrate moisture content and insufficient light. RR

thanks for the replies guys, i seem to have had moisture content issues with my substrate (coir/verm) but i thought it was too wet as my rye grain didn't colonize fully after 3 weeks, but the tub started pinning by itself so i fruited, saying this it does look a bit dry on the top layer
your point about FAE & outdoors makes sense, it could be a light issue aswell as i just give them indirect sun/daylight

I doubt it's a lighting issue.
Moisture content or FAE

Same thing, low moisture in substrate. I'm sure you dunked it after the first flush so the second flush had access to more water.

Next flush ill dunk it first, i'm on the 2nd flush now & i thought the shrooms were small before! They're like 1" this time
I just thought my substrate was too wet if anything as my myc colonized so slowly...
It can't be FAE from what RogerRabbit said, they grow outdooors in FA just fine, so it must be moisture related then i guess
How tight do you guys stuff your polyfill?

I was getting short fat fruits using a 6500k cfl. For my most recent grow I switched to a 5000k led & my fruits are taller & skinnier. The total yield wasn't effected.

I can't see my lighting being an issue as ive always used ambient daylight & up until now always had decent size fruits (when fruting directly off rye grain bags w/verm casing layer in a humidity tent/bag) only when i've switched to a monotub has there been this small shroom issue, maybe as the tub's plastic is thicker than the clear plastic bags i used to fruit in less light gets through...
They seem to respond well to heavy misting so maybe it is a moisture issue, even though my subtrate looks moist, maybe its TOO moist?

Ok, so it seems it was just genes, i was running 2 tubs, one B+ one Mexican, both used the same substrate mix, the B+ fruited one huge shroom then i thought it went mouldy so i stuck it in a dark corner on the floor & left it for a while, its now fruiting like crazy, no small shrooms. Beautiful fruits.
So my other tub with the stunted shrooms definitely didn't have light issues, or substrate issues, as the other tub was fine, it must've been genes.
The only other thing it could've been is the tub with the short shrooms was kept at a slightly higher temp, higher off the floor.
