So here I am with these wood-based Mycobags...
    #1615805 - 06/07/03 12:30 AM (13 years, 11 months ago)

Which I won in a contest. They're cute as hell and ready to go. I know they have self-healing inNoculation sites, but I don't exactly know what to do with them. I don't see a mycobag tek. PF cakes is the extent of my knowledge. Can I shake them every day like liquid myc? Do I fruit in the bag? I don't want to waste them on stupid newbie shit...

I think your biggest problem is finding woodbased strains of cubes.

I was looking at these also. They also offer some with rye in them as well as one filled with grain. I was wondering if anybody knows how well these work and which one would be best for cubes? I am guessing the rye. Here is a link to their website

Thanks

If i'm not mistaken they are ready to go.

They are like a jar of grain on a huge scale...only some strains colonize wood and not grain. The cool part is that they are sterile and ready to go with self-healing innoculation sites.

They offer wood and grain...you lucky dog you won some wood based ones. Now like Pavement said your biggest problem is finding woodbased strains of cubes.
These are all from.....

correct me if i'm wrong but I think all these are wood based mushies......

Wavy Cap(wavy caps I here are wood lovers)

Hope this helped,

    Amanita dreamer is right about the species. But they're mostly outdoor species which need lower temps for fruiting. So if you have a chance to grow them outdoors take a look at;
http://www.erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/mushrooms_cultivation_az2.shtml

And since you have the allready sterilized mycobags (which ROCK!!, just start reading from "making the outdoor bad".

And here is some info on growing them indoors using a refregirator.... (which sounds like a lot of work to me...:))

http://sporelab.com/pscyangg.htm

  Hope you succeed!

Thanks! You guys rock! I'm gonna get funky with these bags. No can do on the outdoors, however. Besides, I want to take advantage of the sterile environment of the bags. I could swear I saw some pics where someone had fruited inside the bag.

These wood based are very new and there are not too many pictures around yet. We are working on some interesting things and will share them soon.
Here is a photo of Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) fruiting on a larger version of the same wood formula.

I've toyed with the idea of cultivating Reishi, but I'd rather try Portabello - I had one at a restaurant once that was every bit as good as the best filet mignon I ever tasted. In fact, I get hungry just thinking about those humongous, heavenly shrooms...Do Portabellos like wood? Shit, I got some research to do...

Anyway, many thanks for your kind generosity, Mycobag (It feels strange calling someone "bag.") . Whatever I do with them, I'll post any good news along with pics, and my next order for lab supplies will definitely be to you. You rock, man.

Just a thought, you should try barbequing portabellos, excellent taste.
They make great burgers.

They are best used to make a soothing tea. A myco medicinal I believe.
