OOKLA is correct. I'm looking at 3 pc fans now, all 3 have different sensor wire colors, white, blue and yellow. Black and red are the wires you'll want to use. It is possible that 9v is not enough to get that fan spinning, something to consider. Also, are you sure the fan still works? And OOKLA again is right, swapping the red and black wires will make the fan spin the opposite direction, but it should still work. A rule of thumb I've picked up working on computers is that pc fans almost always have a round sticker with the manufacturer's name on the fan and the fan is built to move air in the direction of the sticker. Again though, it probably doesn't matter that much. And the sticker thing is just something I've observed.

I've got no 12v adapter. :frown:

Is there any way to plug two in, a 3.7v and a 9v and splice the two? or am I asking for trouble doing that? lol. Not gonna try until someone answers me for fear of setting something on fire.

This fan is just so tiny, I can't believe that a 9v wouldn't run it.

I'm pretty sure the fan is still good. Also, can you burn up the adapter by running the two end wires together?

ok found a 12v adapter. It was one off an old n64. it connects to the wall normally, and the adapter plugs into the n64 via a 7 pin female connector. The connector is diagrammed on the adapter, showing which pin slot is what - one is 12v and one is negative. So, plugged the wires into that, and it started working. But only for a bit. Then it just quit, and won't work again.

Here's what to do.

Get a used PC Power supply.

Plug it into the wall, plug your PC fan into one of the SEVERAL output jacks coming out of the PSU. End of discussion. :smile:
