Using a pot I see can be done instead of using a PC.
How safe is this, is it 100% sure that it will sterilize like a PC?
Hit me with some details, pros and cons.
Thanks

you need a PC for ALLLL types of grains..... for the PF tek, ive heard that steaming for 1 hour a day, 3 days does the trick same as a PC would, in one hour....

If you are doing PF tek(BRF + vem) you can use a pot and steam the jars for a hour. I did it for the last 9 months and had no contams.

I used a pot for 8 of my 12 brf pf style jars (tiny ass pressure cooker only holds 4 jars, I need a new one) and they turned out just fine... I think I steamed for an hour and a half.

.i'v had 100% succes rate steaming PF substrate in a pot for an hour and a half. it didn't even have a proper lid...just balenced a wok on top!! i suppose the wok was just heavy enough to create a reasnable level of pressure inside the pot. i'v just aquired a PC tho'...so i'm going to have a go at 6T's millet tek...hopefully there'll be no looking back...

A pot will work just fine. The principle is quite simple: get the substrate near 100C (212F) and hold it there for a while (minimum: one hour). If you use a pot for that purpose or a pressure cooker, is really irrelevant. However, with a pressure cooker the procedure tends to be a bit more reliable; i.e. the substrate is more likely to get heated evenly, and the temperature can be higher as a result of the higher pressure. So overall, I'd say that a PC is more reliable, though I have very good results using a very simple cooking pot which I use in day to day life to cook my Pandan rice in I simply put some water in the pot (about 2 inches), and let it cook for an hour or an hour and a half. The steam heats the portion of the jars that is above the boiling water. Don't forget to add some water now and then so your jars don't end up on a dry and sizzling hot pot-bottom.
