It's Zizek's ability to candidly convey a good part of his network of mental reactions to concepts and events that makes him such a treasure.  He is never able to corral his ideas into easily digestible propositions, but that is not what we need in a twenty-first century philosopher.  In an age where the accumulation of information is a popular pursuit, his adroit, unapologetically chaotic synthesis of current events, popular culture, history, ontology, and epistemology, is a welcome counterbalance to the prescriptive philosophers, the philosopher-bureaucrats, who decide what is within the range of suitability for public discussion.  Even though he may sometimes paint with too broad a stroke and leap too quickly between subjects, his work, as a reflection of his own mental landscape and his eagerness for knowledge, is fascinating and inspirational.
